I am on the phone with someone now just on hold. Is them asking for a SIN number and DL etc normal?

Yes it is.
I got a text from them trying to push me to Koodo. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Well it's all Telus anyway. They know public Mobile is the best deal so no surprise they try to push you to more profitable brands. I got rhe same text. Not interested.

Yup, they need it for the credit check. Telus did it for me as well when I switched to them a year agoThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Where do you see that Rogers stating that the data is throttled in the first 25 GB? I may have missed it. If you have a link or something post it please. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
When I spoke to them I asked them about LTE vs 5G and what I was told is that if you have a 5G capable device you will be provisioned on 5G.
Ported my wife’s phone already on the new deal (I’m waiting for my new phone to come in the mail) and it shows LTE. Where did anyone say it’s throttled or drop down to 3G?
Ran a speed test with Rogers LTE on wife’s phone and it shows 85mbps at my house in NW. With my phone still on Telus I’m getting 95 so maybe Telus is slightly faster in Calgary but either way Rogers deal is LTE and will be 5G when they eventually upgrade
Sorry guys. I'm dumb and made a mistake. I was confusing the Telus plan from a previous page vs. Rogers. Disregard.
I am also waiting for a callback from actual agent now after confirming my referral.
Edit: APEGA is considered Rogers so no deal.
Shaw Mobile is offering 25 GB for $45 anyways, so I'll just go to them and switch "back" to Rogers if I don't like it

Thanks! Just got a second call back and provided DL and CC# instead of SIN just in case. I'll be more at ease when I get the confirmation email

So I am at the stage where they give you your account number and you get transferred over to Roger's and authenticate your account. But I have had no luck getting through and keep getting voicemail. The original company called again and the same guy asked if I was able to authenticate my account and I said no and had to leave a message. He said stay on hold and he will try and after a few minutes came back saying he also got the voice-mail. So told me to just wait for them to call me again and after it's done to call their call center and leave a message for the rep call me again.
Also out of abundance of caution I did call Roger's customer service and they confirm the account number was created although had not been filled with details. He did say that what I explained sounds genuine and to essentially just wait for the reps call again.
Is the shaw deal based on a contract or can you switch at anytime ?
I want to switch from my expired bell contract.
I have 4 lines on my account of it matters...
2011 Ram 1500 QC Sport
2017 Jeep Cherokee Limited

mine was:
December 18, called them and left voicemail
December 22, received a callback and went through their screening, was told I would get a call from a winback agent.
still haven't received a call yet so just wondering if I am SOL or if it took any of you guys around this long before hearing back.
trying is the first step towards failure
I received the screening call and the call from the Winback team on the same day (22Nd Dec). Winback team was suppose to call me back yesterday and so far no call back. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Friend of mine signed up this morning. She called and left a VM last Thursday so about 7 days for her. She did just the plan and byod for $36. Odd that they are offering some people the extra 20% off but others not. Try to push for it either way, sounds like they will do it depending on their mood lol
It doesn't seem like anyone's mentioned Zoomer Wireless yet so thought I'd chime in. I've had the folks set up on Zoomer for a year now and they've had no complaints with their service - AFAIK they piggyback off of Roger's network. Pricing is very competitive, currently paying $36/mo for 4GB data and unlimited talk/text. The plans came with some shitty Samsung phones that we ended up unloading on Kijiji for $200/ea or so, this was in addition to the $200 bill credits that each of the accounts received so it was almost a year of no cellphone bills for them.
They've got some aggressive boxing day promo's now so for anyone whose off contract I would highly consider looking into Zoomer. If you're setting up multiple accounts, also consider using your accounts to refer each other as you then receive $50 in bill credits for both parties.
