The question is, do they get to keep Shaw Mobile/Freedom network/tower access? There is this spot in Panorama that's a Rogers dead zone. Even Freedom is better than them. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I was getting no reception at beacon hill or sage hill near the walmart with bell so that is part of the reason I switched though downtown maybe slightly worse. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Shaw wireless/Freedom was carved out of the rogers/Shaw acquisition . They are owned by videontron now so still a separate entity. Rogers reception won’t be improved due to shaw acquisition. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Kids are on Fido, reception seems to be same as my Koodo.
I am thinking of getting another line, exclusive for work use.
Could use a phone as well, though doesn't need to be a part of a plan and I can just buy it separate. Line doesn't need data as wifi is everywhere plus it'll be a second line. Currently with Telus so starting another line with them would make sense, unless some better services/phone deals elsewhere? As my main phone is an iPhone, will want an Android for this one and likely one of the new flips/folds.
Get two, just in case. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Want month to month? How many minutes? Mostly texting? $15/mo okay?

Telus network, buy any unlocked phone you want from Amazon. Esim or physical sim.

Haha CBA is just a Bar Association for the members. They don't govern the profession. It's the LSA for Alberta - Law Society of Alberta. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Could work and that's dirt cheap for sure. Was waiting to see new Samsung phone being released tomorrow and if not will grab the new Moto Razr and throw in a SIM in it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
100 mins are light, unless that's just outgoing? If so, then I could probably make do as I mostly receive calls and if minutes don't count for that then I am good.
$25 plan has unlimited minutes.

My kids are on a $25/8GB plan with Fido. Got it a few months ago. I'm sure something like that will appear again. It's now 18GB because Fido had a bonus 10GB for free thingy going on too.
I actually ran into a friend when I got to North Hill mall (apparently the only Calgary location that offered the plan), he switched when I told him what I doing there lol.
Virgin winback department has a 10 or 15$ plan with unlimited Canada talk text and 1gb of data. Though if you’re not worth virgin you’d have to go through the hoop of signing up for 90 days then leaving then coming back. But it’s cheap enough maybe it’s worth considering
Shit like this is why I like public. No team, no tricks, no customer service. Just a fair price, and same price for everyone.
Wish every service was like that.

I still need to call or go to the phone booth at a Costco but I have my wifes cell on the Shaw mobile by the gig plan, moving to Rogers will include 1GB a month instead of having to buy 1GB every 3 months for $10, so it's a win in my books.
I think that Freedom $25 maybe the way to go. Data is low, but I don't really need it for this line and unlimited talk and text with voicemail etc. is all that's needed. Then it's month to month so can be canceled whenever, which I like. Might do some research on the other big ones tonight but so far likes like the easiest way to go. Will need to buy the phone first though so will either get the new Razr or whatever Samsung announces tomorrow if that appeals to me.
Caution that if calls are important to you, stick with Telus or whatever subbrand that use Telus network. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Freedom is fine if you are in home zone a lot and your phone support VoLTE.
IE, if calls are important, I'll take Public over Freedom.
Sorry I meant the Public plan that ES posted above. Now that I think about it, I think I will do 4G one at $39 which is still quite cheap and with 4G data on secondary phone covering 20GB should be plenty. I understand Public is Telus network so service should be ok?
I freaking even hate my Telus network sometimes as I feel it's not that strong in some areas I frequent, but prior to that Rogers was even worse so there's that.
