My Rogers rep says I have 5G and there is no such thing as a 5G sim card.
So... wtf? lol.

Someone who works for Rogers. They thought I was crazy so they also asked a support member in their team and confirmed there is no such thing as a "5G Sim" I need to get in order to access 5G.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They said they never heard of such a thing and as long as I have a 5G device, I would get 5G. I wonder if that is false? Because right now I don't have a 5G device to test this out.
well myself and spike confirmed with Rogers (including the President's office in my case) that you absolutely need an Infinite plan to get 5G.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm completely set up now with my new phone and plan and i've never been able to get 5G even after trying to force my 12 pro into it. So unless someone is able to get it somehow, it's safe to say that this $36/25GB plan does not have 5G access - LTE only. Don't believe the 7xpowered guys or the front line reps because clearly nobody knows what they are talking about haha.

I knew this might happen so I got the Rogers rep to say in their notes that I do indeed have 5G on my plan. Heheheh.

My phone was delivered yesterday. So much for the 4-6 weeks backorder. It was delivered in about 1.5 weeks.
+1 rep for sabad66!
Anything I have ever read confirms this. SIM card is literally a glorified customer number. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
“5G” sim is a made up requirement, maybe to sell new SIM cards.

Got an e-mail from Rogers president office instead of a call. Pretty rude e-mail actually stating pretty much what sabad said about the infinity plan and they mentioned they're willing to pay for all costs associated with switching back to my previous provider if that is what I want. Don't care about keeping me as a customer even though I politely asked what's going on and reps telling me random shit.
Basically saying you got a good deal, stfu. Lol.
Gonna switch to Telus most likely soon. Fuck Rogers.
Customer service is brutal from every major cellphone company. you want the least customer service interaction possible, IMHO.

Is anyone using a shared plan that includes both data and minutes on 2 separate lines?
I'm paying Rogers $65 for a 15GB plan and my wife's getting pwned by Telus for a $55 plan and 5GB
Maybe im in the minority but Ive been pretty happy with Telus customer service for the most part. Much better than Bell and Rogers from my experience.
For those interested... Mark did lie about the plan having access to 5G. It does not and they want you to move to an infinity plan which is $24 more per month to access.
So a DIFFERENT Rogers person from the President's Office called me today.
Guess what? They reverted back to their spiel saying that I should have 5G as long as I have a 5G capable device. Obviously I know this isn't true so now I'm trying to explain to the guy at the President's Office that he is misinformed
Then I said, ok, so I know I don't have 5G, what are you going to do about it? He says that he'll need to contact the technical team because he isn't sure now...
lol, Rogers clearly needs to send out a company-wide memo and also to their third parties like 7xpowered to make it clear that you must be on an Infinite plan to get 5G. So ridiculous.
Wife signed up last week and they said the same thing about her phone delivery, she gets a call from fed ex wednesday night confirming thursday delivery lol If i were them id be doing the same thing though, better to be safe with a delivery date then to say a couple weeks and have an irate customer on the 15 day calling and crying wheres my phone or worse off have some cheap bastard call and complain when they dont have 5G even though theyre getting a deal i keed i keedThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. You nailed it with the first part but after being with Public id have to say we missed having someone to get mad at We had some hiccups with the setting up part and data usage and it was super annoying to not be able to call someone, we had to go to the public mobile forums and ask a mod for helpThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Has anyone had luck with Telus matching plans? They claim Calgary is covered in 5G but I am not sure how good it is in reality.
I've been with Fido for coming up on 15 years now but I'm getting pretty tired of seeing dramatically better deals only available to new signups ($45/25GB) and when I call as a loyal customer asking for the same plan they tell me GFY.
I STILL don’t have my fucking phone. So irate. Seems like everyone is getting their 12s. The plan is too good to back out though.
I get 5G no problem with Telus. Was in Calgary recently and drove all over the place within the city. My 12 stayed on 5G the entire time. Edmonton has even better coverage. My phone switches to 5G once I get past Millet on QEII. That's rural Alberta for christ sake! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
However, ran the speed tests... speeds sucked. For now anyways. Waiting to 5G to hit Red Deer... not too far away on the timeline me thinks.
