    Koodo offering $50 for 70gb.

    Why can't I have a plan that's like $20 for 10gb instead
That was my beef with the Telco's too so I switched to a Public Mobile plan that is $24/mo for 4GB and LTE. I usually only use around 1GB per month and my phone shows 5G connection most of the time anyway. Haven't noticed any speed issues affecting usability compared to my previous 5G plan I had with Rogers.

Back when I was on the 3g plan from Public, that was what I said too. the "4g throttled to be about 3g speeds" was so close in real-world performance to actual 4g, that it didn't matter at all. It's not like they ran a separate 3g network that I was accessing.

I upgraded to a true 5g plan when they had a promotion, so not a concern now in any event.

you can see my latest complaint in the Public Mobile thread if you are interested, but they are changing the loyalty and referral incentive plans, which will be worse for my collection of 4 plans int he household, but it's unlikely to bring me up to the cost of a mainline telco. I will keep an eye on it.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Did anyone actually do this though?
No idea. The lack of details makes me not care.

Freedom has $119 lead year for talk text and 15gb of data to use over 1 year

Telus has similar at $100 for the year but with talk, 100 texts a month and 1gb a month data

I was just stating what I "would" pay for a plan.

I couldn't find that TELUS deal with the 1 GB/month. Where did you see that? I only found the Talk/Text 100 promo for 1 year where you get 1 GB data and 500 addtional minutes. Thanks.

Looks like Loblaw's is getting on the cheap prepaid plan action with No Name Mobile sold at No Frills. Prices are competitive with Public Mobile.

I looked into switching to Kuudo, but on top of name, address, and CC info (standard) they want my date of birth and driver's license info. Doesn't that sound excessive? That would be a sweet data breach for an attacker.

Pretty sure all carriers require ID to do a credit check.

Yes, they are doing a credit check on you, which all postpaid carriers will require. Koodoo is a division to Telus, so you can decide for yourself how trustworthy that company is.

If you want less data in their hands, consider a prepaid brand like Public Mobil, PC Mobile etc.

Interesting, I guess I don't get credit checks done often. Also didn't realize that some are prepaid and others are postpaid carriers. As always, thanks Beyond!
