Not sure why you'd choose this over Shaw $25/mon Unlt'd LTE data?
Thanks, I never considered Shaw/Freedom. I'll look into it.
Coverage shouldn't be a problem if Rogers buys Shaw eventually.

EDIT: $25 for Shaw customers only. I'm on a 2 year with Telus Fibre

Zoomer Wireless gives you 4GB LTE data with unlimited minutes/messages for $36. Their website shows $40 but you get 10% off. You also get a free phone which I just sell on Kijiji for the going rate. I've gotten as little as $150 to $300 for the phones.

Yea I was a Rogers customer from 2002-2021, when I asked if they could do any better on my 12GB/$80mon plan, they said No and didn't even try to keep my biz. Oh well!
Yeah, if you want the best deals, expect to bounce from one provider to another every couple of years. Companies are only interested in new customers, not retaining existing ones.

Thanks for this. Zoomer uses Rogers network, so it should be decent. Just worried about overages with kids. Public just cuts them off once they are at their limit.

I tried to cancel my old $15/4gb plan after getting the tablet since it won’t let me upgrade online and only buy new, and the csr gave me 24 months of $15 credit so it’s free.

I officially have too much data. And ZTE tablets.
With all my travelling this summer, my tablet plan that Fido gave me credits for went over the 4GB and got $50 of overage charges. Bill showed up, and it was way lower than expected. Whatever code they gave me for the monthly credit looks to be crediting all my overages too. So I think I somehow ended up with a free unlimited data plan for 24 months.

I hate Rogers with a passion but that is kinda tempting. I could drop from 60$ for 17gb on Koodo to 49$ for 15gb

I'm looking for a cheap plan for my MIL. She will not be using much if any data. Just needs to be able to make a call in case of emergency. Best recommendations? Looks like Bell has a $15/mth plan that might work? I will give her an old iphone.

you may want a prepaid plan so she can't mess up and end up with a massive bill. My kid has a public mobile $15/mo plan and there's no chance of overage. Actually $13 with the autopay reward.

Are you or she a Shaw customer? If so go get a free $0 plan and pay per the gig if she needs any data

Good Call, if you can get into the shaw plans those are great value. Whatever option you choose, it should be under $20/month

Does the $0 ($15 for non Shaw customers) plan include any data at all? Or you have to pay an extra $10 to get the 1 gig of data?

No data, just free call/text and then pay per the gig, otherwise $25 for 25GB is available

Does anyone here have the Shaw Mobile plan? My wife and I are looking at switching as it's about half the cost of Bell and the others. Just wondering what the service is like, coverage, usage, that sort of thing.

A good buddy of mine has the shaw, and he's tested it around the city and everywhere in southern Alberta and as far west as Kamloops multiple times. Coverage is fine, because you jump to other towers outside of the city.

Shaw Mobile/Freedom is better than when it first started, for sure.

I switched my kids to this plan about a month ago, they have some promotion where I’m paying more for my internet service but my phone plan is at $25 for 25GB and 15 for 3GB. It works out to be 10 more per month so I’m good with it. Coverage wise, no issues in the city since they piggyback off of the bigger carriers. My issue is that Shaw Home and mobile are 2 account instead of just one, so different billing dates etc. And if you decide to leave shaw, mobile rates go up.
