They don't do family deals I see but they do knock off 10% for additional accounts. I may have to check that out. How is the best way to go about closing an account with one provider when joining another without incurring much overlap? I'm not subsidizing any phones right now so am I allowed to cancel with Rogers with no notice or do you have to complete the billing cycle?

Best to start by going to the new guy and asking for a port in (assuming you want to keep your number)
If you start by telling Rogers you're leaving, your phone number will end up in the recycled phone numbers pool where it has a cool-down period before it can be reassigned

Most providers will pro-rate how much of the month you used and refund the difference minus admin charges.
I know if you're porting out of Freedom they pro-rate in 10 day chunks, meaning if I have 19 days left in the cycle I will only get 10 back.

Yeah, your new provider will handle it.
I don't have time to type it out, but read this thread for public mobile info. It's good.

So checking out my options I can either opt for the unreliability of Wind or the Fido, Koodo, Virgin Mobile route as their plans are all identical (collusion at it's finest) so I guess it comes down to service and reliability and I imagine there's not a lot to pick and choose here.

Well, reliability of koodoo is fine, as it's the Telus network.

Edit, I see you mean wind is unreliable. Yeah.

The cheapest plan I have seen this year is $60 for 15GB on Koodo WITH phone subsidization back in Feb. So far, this back to school season has 0 action.

Anyone have feedback on Public coverage in rural areas? We’re moving back to DeWinton and don’t want shitty coverage at home

Public is the same network as Telus. I can confirm there is signal at the schools around Davisburg.

Identical to Telus coverage. No better. No worse, no stronger,, no weaker.

I'm sure some of you have seen the EPP plan thread on RFD....am I crazy for even considering the Telus 50GB for $87.50? Currently on Fido and getting 13GB/$75 and I'm finding that some months I'm hitting the cap + using a couple of their unlimited data sessions.

Scroll up. Or search for the freedom mobile thread. It’s cheap for a reason.

Ended up pulling the trigger on EPP Telus. It's their Peace of Mind Ultra with 50GB of data for $87.50/month, and I ended up getting an iPhone XR for $13/month additional with $0 upfront. Basically paying $312 for a $1200+ iPhone.

That's a sweet deal, nice grab. I assume you are with Telus already and talked to retentions?

Nope, ported in from Fido. Plans are available to anyone that works for a company that partners with Telus though.

If anyone sees a decent plan with included USA long distance from koodoo or Telus I'd be interested. May want a handset upgrade, but current unlimited USA long distance in my $60 public plan is just too perfect considering I spend a few hours a month on us long distance.

I give out my wife's public mobile referral code now so she'll keep those benefits even if I switch.

Assuming thats the current public 60$ plan?

    8.5 GB at 3G speed (8 GB + 500 MB with AutoPay)
    2 GB of US Data
Unlimited Canada / US Talk and Text

Probably won't get much better until closer to boxing day.

Yeah That's the one. Not in a rush. By Christmas I should know a lot more about my USA travel frequency too.
