    Default Sooo carrying extra fuel

I am thouroughly enjoying my forester, but since it is tuned for petro 94, it has a limitation It turns out that outside of calgary, finding a petro with 94 is a bit of a trick. I知 looking at doing a road trip to field BC, and I think it might be pushing the range on my car, but with no hope of filling up on the road, I知 looking at other options.

One thought I had was something like a vp fuel jug, but since it is a hatch back I知 a bit worried about having the car reak of fuel for the 2.5 hour drive. Has anyone had experience with these jugs, or have other recommendations? I also looked for a smaller roof box to throw the jug in, but that does mean spending 2-300 for a container that will strictly be used for fuel transport.

    Joys of modified cars.

I just use regular jerry cans to cart fuel into B.C. as long as the seal is good and you aren’t messy with how you use them I haven’t had any issues with fuel smells in the car.

I’m planning to cart an extra 60+L of diesel into B.C. wth me next weekend to hopefully avoid buying any fuel there.

Just bring a section of vacuum hose and bypass the boost controller if all you can get is 91. (Hook wastegate straight to turbo nipple)

Don't. I used to fill a j-can and drive home with it in the floor of my passenger seat with zero problems. Then I barely avoided a car accident and realized in anything much more than a small fender-bender you will likely be coated in gasoline and if you're conscious hoping to Hell that your doors still open before a fire starts (from your vape stick) and burns you completely to death. Car fires on modified cars are real.
Plus, there are Chevron gas stations in BC. Lots have 94. The one in Golden does, for sure.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

There are proper race gas additives out there, not like that royal purple garbage though.

$35-$45 for a can brings 80L of 91 up to 95 octane. Works a dream, tried it on the dyno and it did the trick, allowed us to run more boost and timing.

My GD STi was tuned for 94 and I had no problem running 91 when I couldn’t find higher octane. Don’t drive around at WOT and you’ll be fine. This is a question you should be asking your tuner anyway.

    This.

Ask Airboy if he can make you a 91 octane tune. If you are using an Accessport, it’s pretty easy to switch between tunes.

the Petro at the intersection of TC and hwy22 has 94. it may help you stretch the range a little further by filling up west of Calgary (albeit, it's only 15 km out of town)

    This really says it all.
The combo of this, the fuel additive option and the fact that 94 is not that scarce solves all your issues.
Do not carry fuel inside your car more than a few hundred meters.

Check the image date, and if it's older than a year, call them. Some Huskies recently stopped carrying it.

Didn’t they do tests and the number of bottles of octane booster you’d have to add to increase the octane rating one point was pretty ridiculous?

Always thought octane booster was just snake oil

Edit: yea searching around its hard to find what say STP claims for their 155ml octane booster bottle but the ranges claimed are between 2-5 points per bottle and a bottle can treat 79 litres.

That means you’d have to put between 4 and 9 bottles of octane booster to bump 50L of 91 to 94. So between $24 and $54 per tank extra.
