    Default The Toyota Tundra Thread

I figured there was a GMC Truck, Ford, and Tacoma's thread and who really likes Titans....
    So why not Tundras.

I have been in the truck market lately for a second vehicle, for on-site work use.

This has brought my attention to the Tundra TRD Pro for 2019. The interior could be better, but is bearable. Exterior checks all the boxes as do the features. Though, hear horror stories on fuel economy with these trucks. Can anyone relate?

Any other pros/cons you guys can report on?
Or if you had a Tundra then bought another truck and loved life 10x more... why/what truck was it?

    Much appreciated!

I’d like to add, I’m curious about the towing capabilities of the tundra. I have read the stats and sales brochures but don’t know anyone with real world towing experience.

I had a 2014 TRD Off Road for about 2.5 years. It was a very basic truck by domestic truck standards and it felt like driving an older truck, which tundra still is. I liked it a lot and it was the one vehicle I kept longer than 2 years in close to 20 years of constantly switching vehicles.

My lifetime average fuel econ was 16.4L/100 kms. I spent a week in a 2018 F-150 3.5L EB and managed 15.2L/100 kms. A few hundred $ per year should not be the deciding factor on what truck to get IMO. I think the only truck that to me would see a significant enough savings on fuel over Tundra is the 2.7 EB F-150 to the point where that would be one of the deciding factors. The TRD Pro looks really cool and has a trick suspension setup, but interior lacks many features you can find in the limited and platinum versions. So if content is important I would look at one of those trims. Also a new Tundra should be here for 2021 MY which is rumored to finally bring a complete redesign with hybrid options.

Had a Ridgeline for a few months after, and then got into a Tacoma. Will probably try the F-150 and the Ram at some point as well in the future.

After years and years of owning domestic trucks, ranging from big diesels to a 3.5L eco, I thought i would test drive a few tundra's and we ended up picking up a 2012 platinum with 32km after 3 years and lots for driving I am at 162km and it has been problem free, only oil changes and alignments (Leveled the truck with bigger tires). I am getting close to needing brakes but besides that nothing...... Can't say that for my work 2014 Silverado I put over 8k into it this year alone and i just rolled over 92km.

with my stock rims and rubber in winter i get roughly 14.7L per 100 and with my 33's I burn 15.7L. mind you I burned that in my lifted and chipped ecoboost if not more.

I loved the newer tundra when we looked but we loved how the 2013 and older rear seats recline and my wife likes to sit in the back with the kid so that trumped the newer one, sadly now she drives it any chance she gets and loves it. we will be selling her Rav4 and getting her a sequoia in the next few months because I want my truck back. I will never sell mine...... well unless I get a new one.

2020 is a redesign I believe. If you are set on a Tundra I would wait.
