I was just thinking yesterday about Augmented (smart) hearing.

Have a BT device in your ears that picks up low frequencies (too low for humans) and bumps it up to audible, same with ultra high frequencies as well.

Also would come with ANC and a smart phone app to tune the device to reduce certain sounds (eg. CT train rumble noise). Could also be used to tune into to human frequencies in certain environments and say .... tune OUT kid noises in others.

The tech I HOPE advances is battery technology. Higher energy density, lower costs, higher safety. Could make a big difference to renewable / distributed energy generation, electric vehicles, and our handheld devices.
Battery Storage project here in Albeerta.

I approve of energy storage projects located around the province.

Yea I like the way thats going.

Plus cold winter weather = good for batteries (up to w point). Heat is the real killer.

15 million is a rounding error for TD.

I'm a battery honk, so you know I'm stoked up abut the idea of "structural" batteries, which some people call "massless" batteries. Will be big for all kinds of mobile applications.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries for Canada. Good to -30 on discharge and storage. Roughly double the bulkiness of Nickel based Lithium ion though.

Ugh, cant recall where I read this but a data storage breakthrough is on the horizon (SSD or HDD - cant recall). Something like a ridiculous 100TB drive for 100$. Anyone else heard about this?

Probably true, although not sure this will have immediate impacts, since storage is rarely the limiting cost or technical factor for most existing tech.

Nimbus Data has a 100TB SSD in a single 3.5" format that cost more than a Civic Type-R.

Unless you are thinking about DNA as storage and wait til COVID corrupts your porn.

This was a sudden breakthrough - some new way of storage that was super cheap and readily scaled up for mass production.
