Default Removing and reinstalling stair hand rail.... dumb question.

Was thinking about removing our stair railing temporarily to allow some extra clearance for moving some furniture around.

Its only 4 brackets (each with 2 screws into the wall) but if we pop it off are we going to struggle with it twisting around and then having to reattach it later?

And can we reuse the original screws (and holes obviously) and get enough bite that it will suck everything back tight without any wobbles?

    /dumb question

Not sure what you mean by it twisting around? But to answer your second question you should be fine as it doesn't really support any weight. If you do that and it doesn't hold the way you want you can lower it by half a cm and bite into fresh stud. That way your holes will be covered and you shouldn't even feel half a cm difference.

Twisting from the wood warping when it comes off the wall. Its obviously secured at multiple locations now but if it comes off the wall will it want to twist or bend or warp at all?

You will be fine. It shouldn't twist when you take it off, and if it does, you can suck it out when you re-install the screws. if the worst somehow happens, you can adjust the height of the railing ever so slightly and re-install.

Railing had to come off to get a couch up the stairs. 8 screws and it was off in 30 seconds, took a little paint with it so need to do some touch ups but it reattached no problems, good as new.

Didn't want to snowflake-millennial it but figured the first drunken climb up those stairs would have ended poorly without a railing.

Good to hear. Yeah, paint is weird. but if that is the biggest issue you faced, sounds like you had a good time lol.

Yup. A little paint work VS not being able to get a custom ordered sectional couch (which couldn't be returned) upstairs was considered a total win. haha. I was ready to smash walls to get that thing upstairs.

Drink till you have to crawl, then no need for railing.
