Default Alexa to play music from Synology NAS

Is it possible to get Alexa to play music from NAS, through a AV receiver hard wired to Amazon Echo Dot 3? My receiver (Marantz SR6008) is not bluetooth capable.

There are Denon/Marantz phone apps that can control the receiver by being on the same wifi network. With this same concept is there a way to play content from NAS, to echo, to receiver?

Really want ability to call up my own music using voice only. Eventually I'll upgrade to smart system like Sonos, but looking for something to use until then.

Any thoughts or can point to website with more info?

    I will definitely try that.

Anyone currently already doing this....real world experience with this setup?

    This is all theoretical:

Assuming you don't have the receiver on at all times set to the input to Echo dot, you may have to add some sort of Alexa enabled IR emitter to set the receiver to that input.

Something like Logitech Harmony Home Hub to blast the IR signal to turn on/off the receiver.

The denon/marantz app sucks, it doesn't really have any useful integration into a smart home. It's a glorified remote that is slow and not as responsive as you'd like.

I'm also thinking you'd need something along the lines of what Xtrema says about the harmony home hub, you need a IR device to turn it on and change the input. The rest would be up to the Alexa/NAS. You can probably rig something custom up on a raspberry pi too.

There's no native way for Alexa/Google Home/Chromcast to work with Denon/Marantz. They've chosen the Apple side and their newer receivers in 2017 and 2018 received airplay 2 support.

EDIT: This is all assuming your NAS/Alexa can provide a wired analog out to the receiver.
