What filament should I buy for the first print. It seems that printing the boat is the way to test?

PLA is the easiest to print and the best starting point.

There's a bunch of different calibration prints that can help see how your printer does and tune it for your filament. Go to thingiverse and just search calibration. Each of them has something they help you tweak ... but that being said also dont be afraid to just load up some small models and try to print them. Some people get so caught up in benchmarks they rarely enjoy their printer (Think people that just mod and do dyno after dyno but never actually race their vehicle kind of thing).

I'd join one of the creality or ender groups and see if someone has a profile made for the printer, they are often much better than the factory profiles that are poorly tuned.

Benchy is a benchmark sure. Lots of videos to help you figure out the issues you may have from it.

I'd head back to spool3d for filament, their plà is decent and safe starting point.

So not necessarily 3d printing related but I ordered a laser cutter/engraver today, should arrive mid July. Pretty excited for the new addition to the workshop.

400x600mm cut bed, 60W laser, both sides open so I can feed longer material in. Excited to see what new things I can do combining the two.

Brackets to allow v85tt windscreen to be raised for those over 5'6" CF-PETG. Now I need to figure out the angles again because now he wants a block off plate to reduce airflow beneath

They're being inducted into the Santa hat alliance shortly then will be strung up on trees. Must be imposters.

Where is the best/cheapest place to get filament in Calgary?

I know nothing about 3 printing (this is for a Christmas gift) so helpful staff would be a bonus.

In Calgary, probably Spool3d? Online Amazon is cheaper.

Solarbotics aka active is another good option.

But yeah most of us use spool3d.

is this a good deal on a 3d printer?
    https://3dprintingcanada.com/collect...ty-ender-5-pro

Or would an Ender 3 v2 be better? I am a complete beginner but want to have a decent setup to not be unsatisfied.

ender 3 would be my preference - just simply due to volume, ender 5 didn't get as well adopted. Nothing wrong with either, but the 5 doesn't have the user base of the 3 still.

I’m reading that the ender3 v2 also has quieter operation due to a newer main board. Are these things loud enough that the quieter models are noticeably better?

I've never found any of them loud, unless I'm not doing maintenance appropriately. Some of the cooling fans are way worse than the steppers/drivers will ever be.

Hi, could anyone suggest a decent 3d printer kit for a 12 year old? His budget is 450.00

    Is Anycubic any good?

    Thanks!

it's been said a few times. Ender 3 is pretty much the goto beginner machine. The standard ender 3 is 273$ on amazon right now. (amazon good, if it's DOA it's not a fight with china)

Anycubic - while I do have a photon on my desk - definitely not kid friendly... Do not get an SLA or resin printer for any kid.

I have a Qidi Xpro that I may sell to downsize my life. Found it much more useful than the Enders.

Zoom macro button - plugs in detects as a keyboard, short press to mute, long press to end call. Standard 24mm arcade button.

Blue by request... I'm going to print a stencil with a 3 letter word to add 3 letters of text on top next (Built for someone else, not my personal use)

May be interested but need to research reviews on that model. Post it up here if you decide to sell it
