Trudeau isn’t even the weakest current PM in the Commonwealth. Anthony Eden would be May’s main competition over the past century while Neville Chamberlain got hit hardest with hindsight. Check a lot of ‘bad PM boxes’.

Australia’s revolving doors of PMs this decade has also been incredibly weak. Seven different PMs Since 2010 makes it tough to leave your mark on the domestic stage never mind the international stage. It’s an office that isn’t leading anything with regards to policy.

That seems like more of a problem with Australias constitution or conventions than anything.

What would be these constitutional as convention differences be? Up until 07 they didn’t have a revolving door of PMs with consistent party challenges. They have similar rules and conventions as we do. It’s internal party leadership challenges that have seen the changes because of weaknesses with leadership that’s seen the unsteadiness in the office.

People in Canada are complaining about Trudeau pushing his policies through. A weak PM doesn’t successfully push through their own policy with such impunity. There isn’t anybody pushing to threaten the leadership, anybody who has been a threat has been pushed out. You may not like the policy, but there can be a big difference between being a weak PM and a bad PM. I’d agree with the latter, but not the former.

Contrast that with somebody like May who, on the cusp of her country’s most important events in its history, can't get the support of anyone (be it her own party, other party leaders, other foreign leaders), and couldn’t even offer up her own resignation as a bargaining chip effectively. If you want to see what weakness looks like, that’s the place to look.

I would agree with the May position - being worse then Trudeau.

As far as JT, I would submit that hes weak internationally and still a weak PM domestically. Only reason he can ram ideas through is because of a majority government.

Not really sure why anyone in Alberta would vote for the Fed Libs.

^ That's priceless, lol. I dare say he's more respected than Trump though. Trumps power is acknowledged, but you can tell no one respects him, when they have to layout an infographic about why international trade is good.

Some of us are just sick of the hyperbole from both camps. I disliked Harper more than I did Trudeau, but I'd defend the fuck out of him whenever some dolt was calling him a Nazi, etc.

I know one of the security contractors for both PMs - Harper definitely had an asshole streak about him - but my impression was that he knew what the fuck he was doing when it came to business/economic development and middle class (he has a degree in Macro economics if memory serves).

JT on the other had, is super nice in person - but mostly clueless with regards to running a country - except pandering to his special interest groups.

EDIT - interesting about Turnip man (trump) - no one respects him? Are you referring to the American corporate media? ( I dont know much about Trump except that he says a lot of things in public, almost trolling?, and some of them are true).

JT is actually a jerk IRL. Swears a mean blue streak, acts mostly like a 20 year old frat boy.

Atlantic had an article about him.

Also one of my employees met him at a non-gov't function and was shocked at his behaviour.

Pretty funny (and sad) watching our Crime Minister fumble his way through the G20 this weekend.

Only thing more embarassing is probably the Brazilian President being caught with 39kg of coke on his plane... and it's not MUCH more embarassing...
