I'm not surprised that he violated ethics rules, but I am surprised his own guy's report stated it. I figured he would have found a way to protect his boss and absolve of him of all responsibility and it would go away quietly.

Whats funny is when you read the CBC article versus other news sources like Global. CBC seems to have the bare minimum amount of information and essentially reports it so they aren't missing anything, then Global goes full hog into it.

Trudeau isn't his boss. He works for parliament, not for the government. He keeps the position regardless of what happens in the election or who is in government and serves until his appointment time runs out.

Wouldn't be a useful Ethics Commissioner if it wasn't set up that way.
