that towel rack is abnormally high damn it!

I dunno. I've also had no issues renewing any of my other cars with them, all but 1 over 500hp. Maybe you've been flagged for some reason and they want you off their books.

I will try Aviva this week and see what they say about my '17.

Got my renewal from TD MM this month and it went up by >$700 on just the BRZ. Called one of the agents and apparently the CAE 6 - 5 year replacement cost rider increased by over double the yearly premium. Does anyone have experience with this? I asked about the SEF 43 replacement coverage when I initially setup the policy last year, but the agent told me that TD offers the CAE 6 instead which is 5 years of coverage.

I did have a speeding ticket that got rated, but the agent confirmed that the bulk of the increase was the CAE 6 increase.

    BUMP.

Just got my renewal policy today and made me think about your above post, insurance is up $30/month and loss of use has been modified. I have a clean record no tickets or claims in the last couple of years. Going to call them tomorrow see what is going on.
Mine went up only $10 but my insurance broker said rates went up for everyone and as Masked Bandit has said... its going to just get worse.

I was told something similar by my broker.

The jumps get bigger and bigger for that kind of coverage each year the vehicle ages. It becomes unreasonable for many people around year 5.

Ah good to know. I wish the agent would've told me that when I signed the contract, but maybe I should've asked - you live and learn I guess

Will probably drop it after next year when the warranty is up/mods begin.

I mean you are free to drop the coverage whenever you want. It only gets more expensive go forward.

It’s the NDP’s fault our rates were hiked:

It's always NDP fault. But they were playing the long game and if they were in power a couple more terms they would have used the high rates to justify mandatory government insurance.

That's a bit distorted. I know, big shock that media only tells a small slice of the story. The NDP's refusal to allow proper rate increases across the board has absolutely contributed to the current problems but it's not the only factor. The insane bodily injury payouts are becoming as big as if not a bigger factor. You can increase rates all you want but until the bogus over-payment for minor injuries is dealt with auto insurance is still going to be a mess.

    More fun from Aviva:

The issues I mentioned above directly cause companies like Aviva to do the shit we've been talking about in this thread.

He said Aviva does this because during the year, drivers can get into accidents or get tickets and the company can’t accurately rate or assess the risk, or determine the proper premium for a renewal.
    WTF?! No shit sherlock. lol.

It's a bullshit statement, there are far bigger reasons at play that don't sound so fantastic in the media. It's too long of a story to type out here but it has absolutely nothing to do with day to day client driving records.

That's not accurate either, more along the lines of years of letting sloppy brokers do whatever they want combined with using credit scoring as an underwriting tool.

    Turns out I was wrong.

I got a letter today from Aviva cancelling all of my cars with more than 500hp.

    What a bunch of dicks - I've been with them 20 years(ish), 0 accidents, 0 tickets, 1 claim ($2,400 vandalism)

Not quite sure about this new business model - I'll be moving 8 cars away from them now - I have to imagine that the general population with stock vehicles with more than 500hp have several cars.

Well since Tesla can out-accelerate most everything on the road I'm sure they're also not able to be insured because dangerous?

    @M.alex
Are these stock vehicles or modified vehicles that have been appraised with the mod list going to insurance company?

    More than 500HP, P100D’s have a little over 770HP.

Aviva's notice also says they're cancelling all policies on electric vehicles unless the vehicle has a backup combustion engine. I guess that means no more Tesla insurance.

Also, the 500hp only applies to cars, not trucks, SUVSs or vans. So Viper is evil but Trackhawk is okay!
