When im towing my travel trailer the lug nuts always need to be tightened during the towing even if Im only driving for a few hours - I torque them up and then they come loose several hours later, is there anyway to prevent this?

Also I bent this stand part of my trailer (not the one pictured) is this able to be replaced somehow. Also have some stands on the back of my trailer that I bent to - basically the trailer wasnt connected to the back of my car properly (wasnt sitting on it properly) it came off while I was towing it just off my driveway to the back of the house and then upon hitting the road it bent it forward.

The tongue jack is a common and easy to replace part. Same for the stabilizing jacks.

As for you lugnuts coming loose, the only time i have sen this is if people improperly use acorn lug nuts, or overtighten the lugs and crush the tapered part of the wheel.

For the lug nuts, are you greasing them or something? Should be lightly oiled or totally dry.
Could always use thread lock on em, but you shouldn't have to.

I'd guess either the lug nut threads are chowdered or the lug studs are. No way that should happen in regular service.

Im pretty sure they are acorn lug nuts, Im in bc but I can check when I get home on saturday. The shop where we got a bunch of work done was a bunch of turkeys that overcharged on shitty parts and also took months to do it (4 months to build a new frame and replace the axle).

So I tried out my two Briggs and Stratton inverter gens with parallel kit and 30A outlet tonight for the first time, with the Camco circuit analyzer. Without load I am getting the "open ground" light. With AC on, I am getting "reverse polarity" lights on. When I connect it to my house 30A shore power it reads "correct wiring". AC in the trailer is working just fine with the generators, anything to be concerned about?

those circuit protectors dont play well with Gens unless you actually ground the gen with a giant spike in the ground with a wire running to the ground on the generator., you need to tie the green and white together to fool the circuit protector, i built a dogbone connector with the 2 wires tied together inside one of the ends. or you just dont use the analyzer because you know the gen is good (verify with a multimeter if you're paranoid... my analyzer is built in so i just do the wire trick)

Saw some mentions of Montana earlier in this thread, but looking for more suggestions. We were thinking about camping in some of the old ghost towns in the area... but looking for a lake too.

Interested in something a little more seclusive.

    Thanks!

yeah everything seemed to work fine on the 30 amps from the gens, I'll just use the analyzer as surge protection and not worry about it.

Look into the national forests if you like seclusion. Usually fewer amenities, and a simpler experience. Northern Idaho and NW Montana have lots of em.

What's the scouting report for West Spray campground in terms of how busy it is on typical summer friday (non-long weekend?) I assume it's pretty heavily used since it's so close to everything. Although it's on gravel, which should keep some folks away.

I'm so stoked for my big BC trip. Very excited.

    Serious question.

Why would one want to run two generators ?

If you have a smaller generator (under 3000W) you need two to run 30amps for power hungry AC units. If you only need 15 amps, to power TV or other electronics then you only need one. Or you could get one single bigger unit (3500W and up)

Benefit of two generators is the ability to run high loads but have more easy to move equipment.

We went camping this weekend, was 35C out, try putting a 1yr old to bed at 7pm when it's over 30 degrees in the trailer. We run the AC for an hour, kid falls asleep then it's not needed anymore.

I've mostly gotten over my snobby attitude about what equipment people choose to use when they are camping. I rarely use my AC and I only need my generator every three days or so, but it's there when I need it.

Now the PLACES people choose to camp, and thier activities while camping, I continue to be a judgemental asshole about that....
