Headed to Drumheller this weekend. Our friends own 15 acres in East Coulee on the river. They have made part of the land into a campground for friends and family. Good people and good times down there. Canada day and Roller Derby Year wrap up party weekend are usually the best

We did a pig on May long
    Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.

My work trip got reschedule so I’m going after work today to see if I can find a site in the Peter Lougheed / Kananaskis area, highly unlikely but who knows.

Made it to Blanket Creek. Bear and banana slug sightings.
Forecast is for intermittent showers, mild intoxication.

Camping down in the crowsnest was pretty great this weekend, sunday was one of the calmest days i've seen down there. Tons of mosquitoes around though. Highly recommend the Window Mountain Lake hike if you're looking for a super easy one for the kids. Great reward for the effort

Managed to cut my toe open badly enough that it required stitches swimming in Lee Lake, almost took tendons off. Not sure if i stood on glass or what, but swam for a solid half hour (training) thinking i knicked it, got back and notice i was leaving a trail of blood behind. That being said, the hospital in blairmore was the fastest experience ive had. 30 minutes from checkin, stitches, and kicked out.

We went up forestry trunk to Red Deer River and camped south this past weekend. Its pretty remote so it was fairly quiet. The spots and roadways are far to tight for a large trailer though and although it was a beauty of a spot, i doubt we will return.

Midway Reservoir east of Carstairs, stocked rainbows that'll come to a spinner or fly on a spin casting setup, prairie pothole lake, outhouses, cheap camping ($15?), sometimes free fire wood, big metal firepits, never busy, 45 minutes NE of Calgary, paved all the way except for the last 1/4 mile or so. Do a day or evening trip out there to see if it'll fit.
Thanks for the suggestion we made it here yesterday and will definitely be back. My daughter had so many bites and came close to catching one. It started raining so we had to pack up but we will try again on the weekend. Campground is small and super quiet, not bad for a quick getaway.

Anybody know how I should best carry my bikes with me as well as my trailer. Right now my hitch is used up by my trailer but I also have a hitch mounted bike carrier. I dont have any sort of hitch mount on the back of the trailer (the trailer is a boler 1300). Ive seen those double hitch mounts which could work but unsure what they are called or if they sell them in calgary.

I guess I need a dual hitch receiver extender or something like that but then perhaps my chains and wiring harness might not be long enough to accomodate the extension.

This is the one I found in the city https://www.amazon.com/Reese-Towpowe...ustomerReviews that they sell at homedepot.

I got one of the double hitch mounts from princess auto for mine and it works great.

You'll need to extend your chains, and potentially your wiring kit if it's short.

something like this would work, but i'd rather buy something like this in person so i could return if it doesnt work.

That looks pretty strong, my chains and wiring harness are already pretty long so this might work well.

Lippert jack-it bike rack. Expensive but a good idea.

You most likely won't catch anything big at Midway but the activity makes up for it the fun you'll have. We've been there and had the rainbows taking our lures within 2 feet of where we were standing on the shoreline, that's quite the experience watching them coming in and gobbling up your lure. Just a fun little lake that's an easy drive from Calgary, beyonders could use it as a short cruise/bbq locale with some fishing thrown in.
    Will fuck off, again.

Nicola Lake, on our way to Tofino. Puppers first road trip, and he's doing pretty good.

Going to Panther River this weekend and found out that the outfitter tents dont have their own fire pits out front.. any recommendations on the best place to get one? Or anyone have a used one they would unload?

My girlfriend sent me a truck with one of those box campers today she was interested in and I told her just to buy a camper for my truck if she wanted one.

Then I looked on Kijiji and nearly shat my pants at how expensive they are.

Nicola lake is a nice spot. Been there a couple of times. It was a bit of a rodeo going over all those passes between Lillooet and Pemberton, but we made it. Nairn falls last night and porteau cove now. Can't beat being a pitching wedge from tidal water.

Those four wheel campers are sick! But that cost is unreal.

Wow, if you had the right site here at porteau cove, you could hang the tail of your trailer over the water at high tide.

Truck campers are expensive because they have all the "mechanical" bits of a trailer, just less air in them.

Nice! I wouldn't even need to dig a hole in the bushes by a river. Just leave the black water valve open, and do it Victoria style.

First trip of the season for our family is to Edmonton for some family function. This is at the rainbow valley campground.
