Can't remember if I've asked this before on Beyond, but for those of you who watch their transmission temps while towing, whats the max you've seen?
My 2015 Sierra with the 5.3 regularly sits around 80-90C unloaded on the highway. My 2500HD with the 6.0 gas is usually around 60-70C unloaded and up to 75C loaded with my truck camper going thru the mountains.

Stayed in Dinosaur Provincial Park Campground from Thursday to Sunday. Site 70 was alright, no real tree cover though, was super hot and only rained once on friday morning from 4am - 7am.
We have no toilet in our 13ft boler and the kids were a bit annoyed / disgusted with using pit toilets (theres flush washrooms about 10 mins walk away).

The fossil tour thing was pretty cool, got to see and touch loads of dinosaur bones that are littered around the area.

Didn't see any snakes or scorpions in the campground, heard a rattle snake while I was out walking though (louder than I thought).

Also went floating down the red deer river from Stevesville bridge - we had one of those 4 person rafts, a 2 person raft and a person in a inflatable kayak. The float was 15km from the bridge to campground. The river at the campground looked like it was going quite quick but we realized that was the quickest part as it took around 4 hours to get from the bridge to the campground - about 3 hours in we looked at our phones and we saw we were only 6km down from the bridge. At that point we hooked up to the kayak and basically got towed to the campground (had our young kids with us).

Also it was a super calm day but about half way along the river the wind picked up in these trees behind us and then a water spout formed on the river - after about 5 seconds it disapeered and so did the wind.

Nicola Lake, round two. Got a better view this time. Only saw 108* on my tranny up the Coquihalla, still too hot for my liking.

108 is nothing. I saw 105 going up that hill in my truck while it was 10 degrees outside and raining.

    Fffuuuuuuck.

Stuck on TransCanada because some idiot dump truck driver lost control of his rig. Oh and he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, so was ejected from his truck and paid the ultimate price for it.

In this day and age, who the fuck is still not wearing seatbelts?

Some people seriously, actually believe it's safer to be "thrown free from the crash" than "trapped in it".

    The mind boggles.

I was in the same mess.

On my way out on Saturday some moron rolled his big rig around a corner too.

Forgot about this until Rage fixed the image limits on here, and I posted a test pic.

Spotted this nice camper in Kamloops, Citroën Jumper with German plates.

I'd suck all sort of Beyond's dicks to get that thing.

Up to 14 nights so far this season after last weekend. Have Mt Kidd booked for September 13 and will go back again if I like it. With my Irricana trip next week and maybe Kinbrook Island, I should get to 21 nights family easily

Going to be camping in Water Valley for the first time and I'm concerned there's nothing around there to do. Anyone familiar with the area have any suggestions on things to do?

Has anyone ever camped at rocky mountain house national campground (its next to the national historic site) there is no power, no water (apparently hard to get confirmation), or no of any sani dumps that the public can use in or around rocky mountain house?

I'm planning a camping trip and bringing my mom with us, while she's ok with tenting and sleeping on an air mattress, I was considering maybe taking her glamping. One of my co-workers recommended the KOA Great Falls Montana camp ground I was looking at their website today and looks like they have some available tent and cabin sites available, thoughts?

Heading down to southern BC this upcoming week (August 9-18). Going to Nelson/Creston area for next week. We are driving from Edmonton to probably crowsnest area on Friday and plan to stay the night at a campground around there (Lundbreck, Island Lake, or Racehorse) and then continue to creston on saturday.

We have not booked anything yet.. Just wondering if there are any recommended campgrounds (private or BC parks) to check out in these areas?

We do not need power or hookups and we have a slide in truck camper so we fit in to basically any site..

On your way south, if it's just one night to sleep, etherington or cataract creeks are nice options as well as racehorse. I think you should be able to get into any of those. If you are trying to "make time" Etherington probably has the least distance on gravel of the three. If you do end up at racehorse, I highly recommend you go back out via maycroft the next day and not south along the 940. It'll be faster and a lot less tiring.

On the BC side, I've been to Moyie, and it's nice. Full of kids, and fairly close together sites, so more of a "family" kind of thing. I've heard good things about Kokanee Creek, but haven't been yet. You should consider the BC rec sites with a truck and camper. Buy the backroad mapbook for that region and go wild.

Awesome thanks for the tips! Looks like Racehorse will be our first stop.

Speaking of backroads.. I think we may take the Gray Creek Pass through Kimberly to Gray Creek. Looks pretty cool and lots of free camping along the way.. And then probably make our way to Kokanee. i will let you know how it is..

I've heard that Grey Creek road is good. I'm jealous of the flexibility of the truck camper setup you have. My fifty foot long combo isn't as forgiving for random side-road excursions.

@tirebob is from there. He should be able to offer some insight.
