    Default Alita Battle Angel

    Anyone else watched it?

I thoroughly enjoyed it. CGI was insane, action was fun and fast paced, story was just go-go-go with no exposition.

Not a Golden Globe winner, but just a fun to watch mindless movie for 2 hours. I was never bored. Much more entertaining than any of the recent super hero movies IMO.

Went to the theater to see it on Sunday. Not bad all things considered. I thought it looked terrible and had no interest in some Japanime real life movie. But then I saw that it was a James Cameron flick, so fuck it, the wife and I checked it out. Wasn't disappointed.

Awesome visuals. Entertaining action. Technically stunning.

    But horrible story and writing.

It is good, been big fan of Gunnm for ~ 30yr, so this is a must watch movie...

However, since I know the original story so well, and it was such a great comic, and we'll plotted story, somewhat small disappointment for me...

Well, Gunnm comic is still going on... almost 30 yr now! Hope the story will end before I die!

yeah loved the anime and even have the manga collection but haven't seen the movie yet.
when they first announced the movie and showed Alita with giant anime eyes, I lost all interest on watching it, fortunately they changed their mind and made it more natural.
heard from other friends too that they thoroughly enjoyed it so I'm anxiously waiting to watch it once released on BR or streaming.

Same, big fan of the original and the manga is an all-time classic. The eyes in the trailer gave me the willies, if I keep hearing good things I may check it out.

Neat change of pace for casting. More Hollywood newcomers as main cast and some bigger names for the supporting roles.

    I enjoyed the movie.

Saw it last night without knowing anything about the manga backstory or even seeing the trailer. I like to go into movies on a blank canvas.

Had to suppress my urge to walk out of that movie 20 mins in. Visuals were kinda cool but the story line and dialogue was so bad it was almost unintentionally funny. Tons of conversations that go like this - "yeah, whatever, don't know dude". Love story between human and cyborg was creepy and weird. Villains were just silly. I don't understand how adults can watch this stuff.

The original story was from 1990, I am so excited one of my childhood 's favorite comic is on big screen now, the original story was so amazing!

And the Bad Guy Big Boss should look like that....

Essentially my feelings which is why I haven't bothered with it. That being said, I guess if you're into the backstory and all that it might be more intriguing to you.

I had the advantage going in knowing that the writing/script and story were terrible. So I knew I was in it just for the technology and visuals.

I think Cameron was using this as a test bed for a lot of technology he will be using in Avatar. He had to invent 3d underwater cameras for use with MoCap for Avatar, and I think he used that a bit in Alita to test it out.

    No worry ...

After 30 year ... the original Author still plotting the story, and still haven't fully disclosed where, how and when Alita come from .. (We only know she is from Mars)

    Again, the comic is Awesome!!

This might be one of the few movies I take in on the year. I get the feeling this will be more enjoyable than Captain Marvel for me.
