Been reading reviews and the Lenovo sounds pretty good.

Think I'm going to pull the trigger before deal expires on 18th.

Unless anyone know better bang for buck currently on sale?

Almost anything is better than buying a 6-8 year old laptop in my opinion - I assume that's what you're talking about? If you're looking at those, just keep what you have and put a SSD in it (if possible).

Costco sells these for $859 (not sure if you can see price unless you log in):

    https://www.costco.ca/Dell-Vostro-15...h53p5G8%2BkO6V

You could get better for $650 not long ago, which irks me, but if you need something now you don't have as much choice.

This is a really good bang for the buck if you can find stock:

Laptop deals have been a bit sparse in the last 2-3 weeks, as you can see from previous posts there was a flurry of them for a while there. Black Friday deals are also only a couple months away if you aren't in a hurry.

This is the one was on fence about:

Right, sorry - forgot you had looked at the E590 already.

Good laptop overall, tried & true design, good keyboard & chassis but average price because it's not really on sale - that is not a $2000 laptop normally, not even close. Might even be a typo. I don't know why Lenovo is saying it's normally $2239 - for that price you can buy a loaded XPS15 with 16GB RAM, 9th generation i7 (H series), and a powerful discrete GPU.

Compared to the ones I linked, the Lenovo does get you an i7 CPU and double the hard drive space- could be nice depending on your usage. Only real downside with that one was reviews were pointing out the slow SSD (by typical standards anyway), but you probably won't even notice doing basic day-to-day stuff. Good laptop, average price - just my $0.02.

This is a really good deal if you haven't pulled the trigger yet - way better specs than the Lenovo and cheaper:

Here is another cheap laptop with good specs and a touch screen:

    $689 ($230 off)

    Ryzen 3700u (4c / 8t)
Vega 10 iGPU (roughly equivalent to MX150)
    8 GB DDR4 RAM
    512 GB SSD
    14" FHD IPS Touch display

    https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops...filiate:bv0as6

Lenovo is running 10% ebates right now too I think.

    --------------------------

This is also a great price for the updated XPS 15 (refurb):

    $1849

    i7 9750H (6c / 12t)
    16 GB DDR4 RAM
    512 GB PCIe SSD
    GTX 1650 (4GB)
    15" IPS FHD Display

Not really bang for the buck, but X1 carbon is still doing great.

You need to be really careful with Lenovo's "sales". For example they will say a laptop with $800 specs is normally $2300, and now it's $1500 off. Sounds like a deal, but it's everyone else's everyday price. Very rarely does Lenovo have an actual sale.

I don't know what your usage is like, but your best bang for the buck by far for a 15 incher is going to be a Dell XPS 15 or Lenovo X1 Etreme Gen2 in the i7/16GB/512GB/FHD/GTX 1650(or similar) configuration for ~$1750ish assuming sales are similar to prior periods. To put that in perspective, a similarly spec'd MBP is almost $4,000.

My target price is $1K. I'm leaning towards this one, even though it's called a gaming laptop, it has the best specs for the price.

    Thoughts on this one?

Keeping my eyes open for a new laptop during Black Friday Sales. Please post any good deals!

Price range : ideally around the $1K mark, absolutely nothing above $2K.

Use: work (some large excel data work but no high powered software), browsing internet, streaming Netflix, etc

Don't really care about touchscreen or tablet capability

    I just got a dell 7472 14inch, 8250u, 8gb, 256ssd for 640 on ebay.

I am looking a thinkpad ps42 for a better keyboard and specing it to about 48gb of ram for the models I am running.

Lenovo has the better chassis for travel or rough environments. I had a asus, gigabyte and razor fail in the same usage, but the thinkpad T series survived the rest did not. The thinkpad advantage doesnt come through unless you need service overseas, the laptop to experience some bumps and drop via TSA, having to jog with the laptop to catch trains and buses, then have enough ports to plug into hotels and conference rooms.

+1. Adapters, hubs, and dongles are the worst!
