    Default F1 Winter Testing

Anyone care to take a guess at the pecking order?

I took last week off work to follow the first week of testing and have to admit I wasn't able to draw any conclusions.

Seems to be a lot of people talking Ferrari, RB and then Mercedes. Personally I think Mercedes is sandbagging and will be out front again with a tight battle between Ferrari and RB (more so towards the end of the season).

Sauber looks to be in good form and excited to see what Kimi brings.

Honda seems to have sorted their reliability issues, we will see what happens when they run a qualifying mode.

Leclerc will be an interesting partner to Vettel if they don't establish a #1 driver.

Williams seems to be a lost cause didn't have a car to run the first two and a half days of testing!

Isn’t RB running Honda engines? I wouldn’t be that hopeful lol.

I hope Merc is sandbagging it. I thought they are sandbagging it in the first test. However after seeing today's test results I am not sure.
I think going in to the first race Ferrari has the edge.

Been following testing and here's the ranking I have based on what I've been reading:
    1. Ferrari
    2. Merc
    3. RBR
    4. Alfa
    5. Renault
    6. McLaren
    7. Toro Rosso
    8. Haas

Yep, somehow they are piling in the laps (as well as Torro Rosso) without any issues.

My guess at Melbourne pecking order:

    1. Ferrari
    2. Mercedes
    3. Renault
    4. RBR
    5. Haas
    6. McLaren
    7. Racing Point
    8. Toro Rosso
    9. Alfa Romeo
    10. Williams

To be clear, this is not qualifying order. This is the race order.

    RBR on the podium.

I wanna see Max on the podium too. I see Goomba and Count Von continuing their behind the scenes love affair.
I wonder how Daniel Ricciardo will fair.

Merc was sandbagging pretty hard the first week, and switched/upgraded every bit of aero from their week 1 car. They will be fine. It should be a really interesting race at the top, but I think people are underrating Alfa. Kimi is going to lead the mid field with Ricciardo.

To be fair, everyone is probably sandbagging during various parts of their stints. You can find drivers sand bagging a little when they purposely slow down for some corners. I tried to take as much of it into account by only using long runs and looking at sector times and tires, ignoring the best lap times. I mean if they have the engine turned down, my analysis would be completely off.

Toto is the master of sandbagging...Autosport mentioned they had 1500 or so new parts on their car! Must be nice to have unlimited money to develop for every potential outcome.

Really hoping for a tight race at the top again. It was an awesome season last year, before Ferrari got in Ferrari's way.

I agree with you except I would probably swap HAAS and Mclaren.

Tomorrow and Thursday should give a little perspective on who’s in front between Merc and Ferrari toss up for me but prob Merc.

Rage Renault in front of RBR? I’d take a bet on that not happening.

Lunch bet? Conditions are purely based on Melbourne race results, regardless of retirements or accidents. One Renault ahead of rbr, I win. One rbr ahead of Renault, you win.

I'd like to, after going to Austin last year, but I don't think it's going to happen.

    Yeah, I'll take that bet.

So basically the best single position wins the bet regardless of where their teammate finishes.
