    For those familiar with Mother Mopar and unusual decisions they made back in the day you probably know about swedging brake drums and left hand thread lugnuts.
    Basically the wheel hub and rotor are assembled and the lugs are squeezed together as one unit. So to do a brake job you need a special drill to machine off the flared end of the lug on order to replace the drum. You can try a BFH and bash them apart but if you are keeping the drums this can distort them. But if you get a wild idea about replacing the lugs with replacements (like eliminating the goofy left hand threaded ones) then you either press them out or drill them out.
    Resorted to drilling them out after trying to press out with a bench vise.....

    Well the Valiant didnt make this years challenge. We simply had too much to do and too much missing and in need of replacement to make it in time. So a car change at the last minute and a team name change to Plan B.

    I was in the Danger Zone Ramcharger. I was looking for the Valiant and assumed you guys didn’t make it, didn’t realize you were in the Plan B haha.

    My buddies had the big blue Lincoln with an N.O.S. fogger system plumbed into the air cleaner, a generator on the roof and a hot dog cooker in the back seat. Apparently the hot dogs didn't sell to well.
    I like neat cars.

    Haha didn’t realize they had a hot dog cooker and a NOS fogger. My personal favourite were the dudes dressed up like Ricky and Julian, too bad they didn’t remove their door. So many teams it was hard to keep track of everyone.

    Is the plan to run the Valiant next year? Our team needs a far shittier vehicle for 2020.

    Holy fuck are swaged lugs ever a pain in the dick. Sometimes you can get away with using a small holesaw (~3/4" IIRC) instead of the special drill to remove the swages.

    Yes-once we get it running there are bonus points for running in events like autocross and ice racing. On the menu.

    What we did was on the front hub/rotor assembly I used a large bit in a drill press from the back side. That gave the swedge a place to collapse into when driving it out.
    The rears we just pounded through but to match the front we drilled 9/16" holes by hand (wasting four drill bits in the process) then pulled the larger lugs through with a stack of washers and a lug nut flipped upside down.

    It was a shit ton of work that we ultimately weren't able to find time to complete. Problem was too much time-we procrastinated for too long early in the build.
    Sucks but I think I have a killer idea for next year! And it's not the Valiant!

    Looks like a lot of fun, but a lot of work too. Unless you really enjoy working on old POS cars
    I had a '65 Valiant and didn't put anywhere near that much work into it.

    I drove pig themed Toyota Tercel this year. This build reminds me of the '61 Pontiac we did last year. It was a lot of work and a time crunch. We actually drove it completely untested (I drove it for maybe 20 minutes) before heading out on the challenge. Blew the motor at the end.
