Yikes, id be sure to verify that. Last time i checked, the 10 day "cooling off" period only applies to direct sales ie. in store and not phone/online changes.

OK guys thanks for your help.

I just called Telus - can confirm that threatening to cancel gets you directly to a loyalty rep. They gave me $15 off my bill (which was $8 too high), so now I actually have a $7 discount over what my bill should have originally been. To be honest, I would have been happy to pay the original amount, if it meant I didn't have to deal with this BS. What a bizarre business model. Thanks for wasting my time Telus.

Follow up. Went from the 75 internet for $88/month to Internet 300 for 85/month for 2 year locked in. Through Chat. See if i even notice the difference but cant complain too much..

but now that i dig more, they have new signups for internet 300 on 2-year valueplan for $50/month for first 12 months, and then $70 month for the 13-24 months..

see if i can fight them on it.Difference of $600 over 2 years. Hell, i'll cancel and put it under my wives name if that's the case
They should be able to offer something better via retention.
As per my post higher up I was able to get my parents Shaw 600 at $55 for 24 months.
Let me know if they need any screenshots or whatnot to see the discounts. I didn't need to show any but I know Telus I could email them screenshot proof and they have no problems adding the discounts.

Wives? A little bit of polygamy in the compound?

Figure I would update since I started this thread. I called Telus and as others said, just select you want to cancel, and it gets you to retention right away. Anyways, told them my parents want to cancel because they don't have much $$, so they gave us $20 off each service (tv and internet) and bumped their internet to 75mbps from 50mbps, and this $40 off is for the whole 24 month term. We have no issues with 2 year terms as we have been with telus forever and it's been rock solid, any my parents are comfortable with paying $40 less and keeping everything the same. Since I have two accounts with Telus they offered me the same thing, $40 off for my services for 24 month, good enough. I hate the $$$ off for 6 months bs, so this works out better, don't have to worry about it for two years.
