It's legal for one pilot in the cockpit to snooze in cruise. Especially on long-haul flights with relief crews. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Trick is to not fall asleep while the other guy is haha.

We’re allowed 30 mins asleep and then 10 minutes once awake before were allowed to touch the controls. Pretty industry standard. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Until Boeing ruined it, MCAS always stood for Mad Crazy Asian Style. You know, “because China” sort of stuff. Especially the Asian photography action stance.
...
UK have banned the Max from its airspace.
Because China took the lead. Definitely has nothing to do with a trade war. Those are easy to win. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yes I gathered that. My bad for going a bit off topic in the context this thread has changed to. All the talk of stalls just made me think of what I posted.

Why do you keep saying they're ignoring it? As it was explained, the pilots are not ignoring the switch, but the switch now serves a secondary function which has not been made aware to the pilots. How far does a pilots due diligence go as far as checks? Should he/she be required to question every single toggle and switch as to whether it now serves multiple functions every time they get in a plane? You can't have pilots on a witch hunt every time they get in a plane.

Several countries grounding them on the idea they are "unsafe".

The bandwagon starts now. WestJet hasn't grounded yet, but they can at any time. I'd definitely take an extra day and few hundred dollar hit to fly a different plane.

Lots more countries banning the MAX pending investigation, including the UK. Southwest is allowing customers to re-book on alternate aircraft, American is not. Interesting to see such a knee-jerk reaction to this with no information whatsoever on what caused the latest crash, but I guess better safe than sorry in all cases like this.
Any way to capitalize on this? 50 dollar flights to Vegas on shines new max 8’s first class?

so, just curious. I booked my flight with Expedia to las vegas next week, and the itinerary makes no reference to the type of plane...is there any way to find out?

Always a fucking awful experience seeing spikers. Extra awful when he laps me.
Go to seatguru.com and put in the flight number, date, and airline - it will tell you exactly so long as a plane has been selected, which it probably has. Usually it says on the booking/e-tickets though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The max 8 is so nice... I really wouldn’t be concerned.
I guarantee a memo about MCAS has made it to WJ AND AC’s pilots by now.

probably the safest plane to fly on now
Compared to some of the dog shit planes that make it into sky ferrying people to Mexico on the cheap?
I’ll take a brand new Boeing with a software quirk with a known fix any day.
