We can't. Last time down to Phoenix was Rouge and never again. 3+ hours of my knees jammed into the metal bar in the seat pocket in front and no where to move my legs because the seats are meant for 5 year olds. Cattle trucks have more room than these planes. I miss the old Embraers. Leather seating and leg room.
To paint a bleaker picture, Ryanair is setting the new standard for discount airline seat pitch by going with 28" for their fleet of MAX-200s (Rouge has 29"-30" pitch). Hopefully the NA airlines don't get too anxious to adopt it.

well, AC for me in the past has been pretty crappy, in my last 4 flights with AC, only one took off on time, and the other 3 totalled 9+ hours of delays. Never flown WJ.

We are now about to fly to Vegas this week. I had to spend 1 hour and 28 mins on hold with Air Canada to book our seats. Because we are flying with a minor under 12, we wanted to make sure we were seated together. Air Canada waived all the costs associated with seat selection, and still got to choose the seats I wanted.

I immediately called WJ after to do the same for the flight back home to Calgary. 0 wait time on hold, but the agent wanted to charge almost $40 per seat selection. I had to really turn on the charm and sweet talk them to select the seats. Had to pay for 1 seat selection, but got the other 3 waived.

Air canada was charging $18 per seat that was aisle or window, and middle seat was $15, compare that to WJ, where EACH seat was $37 to prebook....that's nutty!

You’ve hit a bone of contention.

You should never wear sweats on a plane. Do you have any dignity?

It’s like going out for dinner to a nice restaurant and wearing sweats because you want to be comfortable. Buy decent clothes that are comfortable.

    For shame.

Meh. I wear shorts or sweatpants exclusively on a plane. I don't fly for business though.

AC is full of ignorance, from the desk to the attendants, I’ve never had a good experience. Coming back from NYC last year some wannabe baller in his fitted suit shaded me for wearing sweats, a hoodie and some boosts. He felt the need to make some passive aggressive comments to his buddy about “riff-raff” while giving me stink eye. I asked him if he could sneak a fart in those tight ass pants without it sounding sharty from his swass. Two times he walked by me and all I could smell was sweaty butt. He mumbled some shit and kept to himself for the rest of the flight.

Unless you're staff flying on standby where you're required to wear a suit, nobody gives a fuck what you're wearing. I pack travel attire and change as soon as I arrive at the airport. Shorts, hoodie, socks and slides, even in business. Nobody has ever batted an eye, regardless of airline.

Sometimes I wonder if people just have an overactive imagination. To be fair, I've got my noise cancelling headphones on under my hoodie from the time I pass security until I'm in an Uber, so I have no clue what anyone is saying.

Most lounges do have a dress code.

Really? If that's the case, it can't be enforced. I've seen some pretty epic slobs in lounges.

I've worn sweat pants/hoodies on overnight Atlantic flights, in business class, a few times. I wasnt the only one either. Sleeping in jeans or dress pants on a lie-flat seat, is not very comfortable.

No probs with lounge access. When you are dropping $5-7k on a return flight, the airlines dont care what you wear.

Listed as a requirement for most Priority Pass lounges, no idea about enforcement, I try to dress reasonably while travelling. I don’t find jeans and a collared shirt that uncomfortable I guess?

I don’t think I own a pair of sweatpants lol.

I change into slob clothes immediately in an airport. I'd laugh if someone tried to dress code me.

Me neither, and Id never be caught dead in public in a set unless it was 1 in the morning and I needed something from the corner store.

I dress decently when traveling. I guess at somepoint I'll be baller enough to have enough money that the way I look doesn't matter.

I don’t really care either way what other people wear tbh, not a piece of judgment.

    I just don’t own clothes I don’t like I guess?

I'm curious what people's issue is in regards to the "slobby" attire like sweats and slides, if it's more about the actual look or if it's more about status.

What if the sweatpants/slides cost more than an entire suit? Is someone who goes into first class with $1200 sweatpants, $600 slides, and $40k watch OK? Or do I need a cheap $300 suit to fit in?

    Times are changing folks... Adapt.

And the comparison of a plane ride the same as going to a nice restaurant? lol.

I've seen all levels of "slob" in both business class and the lounges - nobody cares. Every lounge I have been in I've been wearing sweat pants and a hoodie, nobody even gives you a second look and many people are dressed similarly - whatever is comfortable for travel. It's not like nice sweat pants and a hoodie is bad either, you can spend more on those than you can a custom suit if you want to.

Last time I was at Heathrow I saw people dressed like they could be homeless going into the Emirates lounge which looked like a palace

Air travel is on par with bus travel these days.
