Why would they run their engines in safe mode in quali? If anything you run a mode as aggressive as possible but make the engine last to not get a penalty.

Rooting for Bottas, he's due after last year(Baku/Sochi).
Renault hasn’t figured out reliability, RBR validated.
Haas survives the pits!
At least they learned to make sure the tire is on before releasing.
Edit: haha spoke too soon.

Do Ferrari let Leclerc pass Vettel?
Max can’t pass Lewis if Gasly can’t pass Kvyat.
Loving this extra point! Haha
I was wrong. Owe a lunch haha.

1st lap lead and podium for Honda since 2008!
Insane drive by Bottas. Ferrari, wtf. Not as much passing I was expecting with the new regs. Was hoping max might fight harder with Lewis.
Williams though.....and also Lance in the points. Leclerc did an OK job except for the duel at he beginning with seb and his offroad excursion. He did catch seb but was told to back off.

Haha Bottas is awesome this year. I'd love to see him when the Driver's Championship with his new beard/attitude.

Side note, is it possible to embed Streamable videos?
I’ll take a look at the code for streamable.
Hamilton had floor damage. Doubt it’ll be like this again if they both have equal machinery.

Would've been nice if they pitted Leclerc and let him go after that point as a consolation on only be 1 point behind Vettel.
But happy for Bottas, the first 26 point scorer.
Wolff says he made it clear on Sunday morning that he didn't want his drivers to potentially lose a podium position by going for the fastest lap [...] "Today in the morning meeting when we talked about strategy, I forbade them to go for the fastest lap if we were running first, second or third," said Wolff. "They ignored me. All of them!"

Just finished the post race, and the lack Ted's Notebook leaves a hole for me. Anyone else?
Karun doesn't add anything beyond what Di Resta and Davison, so I'm really hating this change.
Im glad Bottas took off his 'nice guy' hat and is now going to take more of his own initiatives. If its going to be your last year with status-quo from last year, might as well try a new attitude. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Honda power looks solid. Gasly was a bit of a let down. I like my steak medium rare.
Good race hopefully not representative of pace as Merc will walk away with it.
That honda engine sounds so amazing. IMO the best sounding engine this season.
I definitely had a lump in my throat the entire weekend with Charlies' passing. The marketing and media campaign was so well done considering the time frame. Kudo's to liberty. Best of a bad situation. RIP Mr. F1.
I hope the new guy becomes less awkward as the season goes on. His commentary is so contrived and forced.
I haven't cheered for Mclaren in years. I have to say I am so excited to see Lando progress. I was gutted for Riccardo. Not a great start.
Are we going to acknowledge that Stroll did us semi-proud? I can't stand him, I despise him almost more than Grosjean, but god damn if he didnt do his job this week.
The midfield fight is so much more exciting this year. The new talent is absurd.
As always LH for the win. I can appreciate how he stuck to the team narrative, but I hope he goes for a 6th WDC then retires. It feels like his flame is going out. A possible dethroning for him has never been more apparent than now. I like how he consolidated second instead of letting his ego get the best of him, all the same.
Good show for Bottas, but I feel like its a one or a two time sort of thing. There is no way toto and lauda will allow it to happen again. Looking from the teams body language, even the celebration by toto, they wont sideline the king. They will never give Lewis 2nd kick at strategy again. If they wanted to let Lewis take 1st they would have pitted Bottas 1st. It felt a bit like a strategic win, more than a pure pace win. I don't buy that Mercedes was trying to cover off Ferrari. From the get go it was clear they would eclipse them in straight race pace. If they arent laughing there asses off right now, i'll eat all my Mercedes gear and become a Ferrari fan.
I loved the sound bit where they asked Lewis about Max biting at him. He straight disregarded the comment knowing he had all sorts of advantage left. It's like they rolled his engine back and let him toy with Max. Even Max acknowledged that there was no way he would have taken 2nd.
The biggest talking point for me was the +1min to the Ferrari's, wtf. Unreal how slow they ended up being.
RBR looking like gold with the Honda swap. I really don't like Christian but god damn it if he didn't dick slap Cyril something fierce. I have to tip my hat and give him the weekend respect. That's gotta really sting.
I am so pumped for Bahrain.
See ya'll 2 weeks from now.
