Now you are just trying too hard to make me like you A+ post.

That's pretty fucked though. Crazy people be crazy. It always amazes me to meet someone who hates someone based solely on one identity feature (race, religion, etc). And I don't mean stereotype, or make fun of in an insensitive way, I mean downright hate.

Thanks for keeping it all in perspective guys. That really helps in difficult times like these.

Interesting perspective. I haven't read anything on or about the "manifesto" as it is being called, but if Tim Pool is accurately describing it, wow. Scary business.

Interesting nobody is talking about the heroes - there was a guy named Abdul Aziz who saved almost the entire second mosque by chasing after the shooter with a credit card machine, zig-zagging to dodge bullets until he was empty, and smashing his windshield with a discarded/empty shotgun. The shooter drove off and was caught shortly after.

I watched a 10 minute video that was circulation what's app before the weekend and it was extremely disturbing to see. Essentially it was the main shooter with a Go-pro strapped on his head and going around shooting people. At first I thought it was a movie or something and you see him shoot some people point blank pretty much. It was a Live video that he streamed as he went around and you hear him laughing and making jokes as he is killing people. Ruined my Friday after watching it as it made me so upset. It's fucking ridiculous what is happening to the world out there.

There's two very valid opinions surrounding the footage IMO. On one hand, he wanted you to see it so viewing it is just giving him what he wants. On the other hand, I don't think a lot of people realize how horrible these sorts of things are, and I think it's important for all those individuals sending thoughts & prayers from their safety bubbles to understand the magnitude. It's the same reason as why I think it's important for people to see and learn about other horrible events that have happened throughout history, to help make sure they don't repeat themselves. Turning a blind eye to it isn't good either, but I am not sure what the middle ground is. There are movies that are way more violent, but it's different knowing it's real.

He posted about what he was going to do online in advance, nobody reported it to my knowledge. He was obviously severely mentally ill.

The vast majority of people see cancer as a bad thing that needs to be eradicated. That would be what the shooter was doing, if "religion is a cancer".

Personally I was surprised this happened in New Zealand. I figured something like this occurring is just a matter of time in France.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...e#21st_century

The list is truly shocking in terms of occurrences and number of victims. They that sow the wind...

Yea I totally agree with you on that. On one angle you don't want to give them more publicity that others may decide to follow and on the other hand turning a blind eye and ignoring the situation doesn't make it go away either. I watched it cause it came through as a message in one of my groups and at first I thought it was an amateur movie or something. Movies can be significantly more violent, however, knowing that this was real was particularly disturbing. Especially hearing people scream and this one particular woman who got shot and was yelling, 'help me' repeatedly until the guy went up to her and shot her point blank and then drove his car over him. I didn't forward the video to anyone though as I don't think it would be right to ruin someone's day like mine was ruined after watching that.

Apparently he wrote out some 88 page manifesto that I didn't read but based on that there are no concerns about him being actually mentally ill. People like him give mental illnesses a bad name. He is just a straight fucked up person who was laughing and making jokes while he was committing these acts.

It's fkn scary. I have a friend over there and she's just shook from all this. Unfknreal and nothing you can really do unless you go big brother and monitor the fk out of every person in the country.

If ppl want to do crazy shit, they will plan and carry it out and you won't have a damn clue.

No McJesus, he was using Religion as a catalyst to spread further hate and dissent among racists and, wait for it........wait for it.........wait for it.......other religious fanatics who believe their "God" is the only real/true one. Religion is a bad thing, probably the worst thing in human history. Definitely worse than smallpox AND the gays.

Religion isn't cancer. It's a symptom. The real cancer is a combination of blind devotion to ideology, and thought processes that prevent people from critically examining their beliefs/circumstances.

Religion just works as a convenient way to label people.
