If Beyond has taught me anything, it's that people with PhDs don't know shit and need to Google more.

The time is right for private health care IMO

Plus I hate going to the emergency room, and not just because me or somebody I am with is in horrible pain; it is always full of drunks and homeless people... might as well be a walk-in shelter these days

I'd gladly pay a little more for a professional environment, plus a lot of people that don't want to deal with that garbage on a daily basis might consider going into the medical care field if this was an option for them.
Not emergency room, but there are a couple of semi private facilities that offer better service, no wait, no rush appointments by paying a yearly fee, along with fixed number of appointments for their services offered. They don’t seem to be doing well at all. One of our doctors moved here and we went elsewhere.

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...oors-1.4294074

They lasted 5 years before shutting down. Fees were $4k/year for adults, $2-3k for kids depending on age. Still a couple around in Calgary such as Copeman. Don’t know anyone that uses this shit. Guess my friends aren’t rich enough.

It's really UCP vs NDP... I know for a fact that in my area those are the 2 that will go to battle
Reality is NDP is a much safer choice. fairly stable and good outcome so far, managed the downturn very well, and the diversification is great. Not to mention improvements to healthcare, minimum wages, cutting small business taxes, and putting money back into education that Kenney is slashing to give the big corps a tax break (My friend Cam whom I mentioned, and the topic of that western producer article I linked, told me that Alberta education is $40 million short with the UCP budget, and lay offs that have not been talked about in 20 years are on the table!)

Rachel is a born and raised Alberta, who actually cares, working hard for everyone, especially the oil industry. We've done very well with her leadership.

Kenney is an opportunist, cheated his own party to win, has bigots as MLA's, and himself was one. If you haven't heard the Adler radio program where he confronted Jason, you need to.

This isn't even a choice. There is no way a person in their right mind would chose ANY party in which Jason Kenney is the leader.

Plenty of those people go into the medical field. Then when they graduate they go to the U.S.

So who do you vote for if you don't like the leadership of one and don't agree of the platform of the other?

Same as every election. The one that's going to use the most lube when they fuck you.

And this is the paradox I consider right now. I mean the Alberta party makes the most sense for everyone. But we are all planning to vote UCP just for the sake of ensuring NDP doesn't get in again, but everyone is voting UCP because they think they have the best chance. Could Alberta Party actually have the numbers if everyone voted with their hearts and not based on strategically getting rid of NDP?

It is wild just how off base you are about absolutely everything. You're right about one thing though, this isn't even a choice. bye bye NDP.

Happy election day. Get out and vote.
Bring your voter card if you have one, if not, bring your drivers license or other suitable identification. Polls are open 9am to 8pm.

I often wonder if that's how the rest of Canada actually views us.

When you get to a certain age and maturity, you don't care what other people think.

    Sure it is.
Look at how Calgary views Edmonton.

I know this isn't how it works in reality, but in a perfect world, you vote for your representative, not the leader of the party. Based on all the Notley/Kenney signs I see everywhere, no one else considers that to be the point.

If representatives weren’t basically forced to vote the party leader line, then I’d agree.

But they are. So you vote for the party platform.

I don't think that's true. Isn't Kenney campaigning that his members will have their own freedom to vote (although I don't believe him)?
    I think Mandel is, too.

And you actually believe them? People vote party lines unless they already have enough votes secured then a few of them cite against so they can say they stood up
