It isn’t really a vote split when an Alberta Party vote is effectively a rejection of the UCP.

I hope this stupid green-NDP alliance thing falls apart so we can get a proper government back in here too. Pretty envious of AB right now.

Need to fill my gas tank before Kenny shuts off the taps... lol

I don't get it... Aren't you an obscenely rich truck driver? How is this a bad thing for you?

Even rudimentary statistical analysis says otherwise. I rarely vote.
Not sure what statistical analysis you're looking at? If 2/3's of voters don't vote, that is a pretty large majority, which means votes not cast could literally change an entire election outcome if they got off their ass.

If you rarely vote, than you can rarely complain about anything the government does.

It's all downtown yuppies, union gov workers, and brown people. It's really weird because the Edmonton I know, it ain't liberal.
No kidding. Where are all these closet socialists hiding out? You sure don't meet many of them around town.

I wanted to grill some dumbass hippies on this as well. What rights are the LBGTQXYZISHG's not going to have under Kenney, that they had under Notley? All this slander leading up to the election about Kenney hating the queers. Like even if it were true, so what? I hate curry, I still wouldn't make it illegal if I got in office.

It's not though. It's a rejection of the NDP. And a portion of NDP rejection votes were split between the 2 main options.

You would think the gays would be stoked to have a gay Premier.

The drama on Twitter was great to read. One lady was tweeting voting for Kenney meant you hate woman. You hated gays. You hated kids. She went on and on...I think she had 300 rts and 1000 likes when I saw it....

    Man some people are dramatic

I didn't want an NDP win the first time, why would I have wanted one now?

Looking at the results and ridings on the map, it looks like a lot of ridings where NDP were elected, could have been UCP instead if it wasn't for the Alberta party splitting the vote.

Sum of the UCP and AB party votes were higher than the NDP votes in the NDP ridings...

Out of all the ridings I looked at, I think NE Calgary (by the airport or whatever) was the only riding where the NDP actually would have won, even without the vote split, lol.
Huh? It's a little unclear what you're trying to say but if I'm interpreting it correctly, then you definitely didn't look at Rachel's own riding. She nearly tripled up on the hypothetical combined UCP & AP votes.

So now that its all said and done when does he actually get into running the govt and also do they draft up a budget straight away and present it in july / august or do they just go with the NDP one that was distributed in March.

1 in 10 votes went to AP with 0 representation. This polarization of politics in AB is troubling to me. I don't want US style politics but here we are.

But other than the SJW stuff, I have high hopes for economic policies of UCP. Not sure if any of those would be shooting ourselves in the foot if Trudeau stay in power but just like Notley is not as left as she learn the job, I hope Kenney is not as far right as he is/was.

Many of Edmonton's ridings could have swayed different ways without the Alberta party there. One would have to assume all of Alberta party would have voted ucp when the odds of that are slim.

Regardless it split the conservative vote. Would make for a more interesting turn out.

I think AP represents socially progressive, economic conservative votes or Red Tories. 10% of Alberta provided votes to AP. I would rather AP replaces NDP as official opposition but with a majority, it probably doesn't really matter.

It's really rather straightforward. It's the exact same reason why private schools get tax money from the gov't.
So, you've moved from "how" Covenant is funded to "why" Covenant is funded? Either way you're wrong. Both in the why and the how. It's all public information and not too hard to find.

Thanks for the conversation, it's been fun.

Sky palace mean anything to you? Red Tories are far from economic conservatives.

Some might find this interesting, Beyond's Weapon_R won his seat for the UCP for Calgary-Cross riding already. Following his dad's footsteps.
Oh man that's cool as hell, good for him! Politickin' must run in the family.

Yes but I agree that it's too big an assumption that AP voters would've all voted UCP if there was no AP. I think their Centre/Right position is actually closer to NDP than UCP. Back in the Wild Rose days, THAT was truly "dividing the right".
I know two people REALLY WELL that voted AP but were close to voting NDP. UCP was a more distant third choice.
