Due to overwhelming voter demand the province is asking all NDP voters to place their votes at poling stations tomorrow and UPC votes today

I know this isn't how it works in reality, but in a perfect world, you vote for your representative, not the leader of the party. Based on all the Notley/Kenney signs I see everywhere, no one else considers that to be the point.
For sure, but by voting in your local representative, you're also voting in the UDP/NDP leadership
Or by voting your local representative, you're voting for the UDP/NDP platform

    Catch 22 essentially

So who do you vote for if you don't like the leadership of one and don't agree of the platform of the other?
Alberta Party - that's what I plan on doing. They are the happy middle on a lot of things. They seem to be mostly good for O&G, Child Care and Healthcare, while not having a leader who spent his University years actively campaigning against the right for gay people to visit their dying parents.

UCP is going to win regardless though it doesn't matter much, but I will feel slightly better about myself not voting for someone with beliefs deeply rooted in religion and bigotry. From what I read anyway, none of the parties are going to be able to do much to move the O&G needle, so whatever. Kenney seemed like he might, but he also might have the effect of other people hating him so much that they oppose him on principle alone.

I wish we could just have a vote for ranked choice voting...

You know it would be funny if NDP attack ads worked and early voting are all NDP supporters.

Going A/P, given the options of platforms and what's realistic.

NDP spending has been too high. I'm not against spending like ol' Ralphy would have been, but NDP have reached a new tier of YOLO. And reading about Vivian Krause's report being received but nothing happening (or even talked about) from leaders is absolutely infuriating. I completely understand that shit gets buried in government protocol, but a firm statement isn't hard.

UCP economically may be a better option of our choices (even still it's a huge maybe), but I just cannot vote for Jason with a sane conscience. Their platform of "we're not NDP" is frankly pathetic, a lot of scandal already doesn't inspire confidence either.

If anyone is interested in knowing relative likelihood of any individual ridings race being decided tonight, there is a link to know exactly how many vote anywhere ballots have been turned in for each riding. Higher number lower probability of a result being definitive.

That pic must be 10 years old. She looks nothing like that when I saw her at Arbour Lake.

I went with UCP last week during advance polls.

It was tough considering their social stance and the fact that I absolutely despise Kenney, but at the end of the day economy is #1 for me and i think they are the best-positioned to bring back growth. Even if it's just a perception, it seems to be have already started driving the economy forward.

Might as well spoil your ballot
I disagree. If more people voted based on the platform and what they believed, vs. "strategically", I believe we'd have a more balanced and understandable political landscape.

The AP may not have much now, but that may change over time as they earn more support and votes. What better way to demonstrate my support than with my vote?

Sure. You go ahead and explain your statement of how a Doctor's office, private clinic, physiotherapist etc.. is just like Covenant Health.

I thoroughly agree. Polls are what's keeping so many lazy asses home thinking their vote doesn't matter. The only vote that doesn't matter is the one not cast.

I would agree if it weren't for the current system. Get rid of FPTP, and our democracy would work a bit better.

I would be mostly concerned about fringe parties holding the balance of power and forcing demands to make governments run, or forcing more and more elections.

Even rudimentary statistical analysis says otherwise. I rarely vote.

Donate and/or volunteer for them, that is far far far more valuable than your meaningless vote. If you really want them to have a chance of being something one day that’s what will actually work.

Voting for the Alberta Party, when they have no chance of winning, is essentially deferring your vote to whatever the majority of residents in your area want. Which is far less likely to do your personal interests credit than being a strategic voter (ie plugging your nose and picking for the best of the rest) in THIS election.

You are a pretty reasonable guy who is eloquent and good at expressing your position. I think door knocking for AP would be a great way to ACTUALLY support them.

That’s the way I see it anyways.

Case in point, I love the PPC, but there is next to no likelihood of me voting for them. I would volunteer for them and donate to their campaign though.
