    Default Workplace Injury Lawyer Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a lawyer in Calgary that deals with workplace injuries? I assume they are all free until any potential settlement is paid?

There's only two lawyers in Calgary who take on WCB.

Both will insist you pay as you go with standard retainers etc

Who are they? Also not sure it’s taking on WCB at this point. Long story short, my brother was shocked while working near an exposed live wire. He is a taper and not an electrician and the safety guys at the commercial site want him to sign some documents. I’m thinking it’s best to have a lawyer review the situation before he signs anything

I wouldn't sign shit post-accident unless I had a professional review the docs.

What documents do they want him to sign? If WCB reports or a statement of sorts, I wouldn't hesitate...

WCB always sides with the worker. As a safety guy myself, 9.9/10 WCB accepts coverage as they are a no-fault insurance company essentially.
Unless you are looking to sue the company, I don't know that it's worth getting a lawyer involved...

This was a 347V shock that threw him backwards a few feet into a wall. He could have died, so I’m suggesting he does explore that option. That’s why I want him to talk to a lawyer to see if he has a case or not

    Hahaahha.

No he gets nothing under Alberta law. This is so fishy that neither party has reported to wcb that it's pretty clearly sketchy as eff.

Who said it hasn’t been reported? It has been fwiw.

He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know, hence wanting to ask a professional......sorry not everyone is an expert on workplace incidents like you apparently are

Just sounds odd, it's out of both hands and WCBs discretion. Kinda the whole point of that system to eliminate conflict between employees and employers.

Once WCB is involved, there is nothing lawyer can do.
At least that is what I was told.
Long story short, many years ago received the letter from injury lawyer demanding proper compensation for the gentleman's injury( not my fault). Anyways, soon as I contacted WCB, therer were nothing his lawyer can do. Later I received the letter from WCB that the case has been settled without any payout.
