Alberta can't act as a gatekeeper in this way, there isn't the mechanism for it. Closing federal highways and railroads the province doesn't own?

If they separate (sorry, 'renegotiate Confederation') to get it, then all trade out of Alberta that needs to transit BC or the ROC also gets gatekeeped, not just pipelines, which would continue to have the same problems. So you're no better on pipelines and worse on general trade. That's some good negotiations.
Bending over and taking it up the bum bum is bad negotiations.

I do not believe it would be particularly difficult for Alberta to dream up mechanisms to seriously disrupt the flow of goods that are transiting the province even within Confederation. Probably not much more difficult than it apparently is to halt tanker traffic or ignore federal rulings on pipeline development. You lack imagination, sir!

Outside of Confederation it would be quite simple. The benefit of bilateral negotiations with the US would be fun. "Sorry BC we no longer even need Trans Mountain....oh and we're slapping some duties on everything that crosses the border. Also, duties on everything made in Quebec transiting Alberta. Why? Because fuck you that's why."

What does that matter to BC?

Also, 'They benefit one end significantly more than the other, and don’t have the same access for both parties.'

BC has leverage on Alberta because Alberta needs the pipeline more. It's that simple.
What does this discussion matter to BC? The federal government is fucking our pipelines, not BC. But even in whatever world you're living, BC benefits from federal services, and as such they benefit from the the federal government bringing in more revenue.

Anyone else see the ndp flyers that are using blue for the ad instead of ndp orange?? Seems a bit desperate to try and trick people that way.

Not sure about other candidates? But the NDP one in my area is sending out flyers claiming the NDP has the support of the Alberta Firefighters as a whole. I heard some radio announcement from the firefighters clarifying that they do not support any political party. More slimy NDP tactics.

The 'Firefighters for Alberta' endorsed the NDP.

I sincerely doubt that. I had bigger and better raises under the PCs then the 0% backdated the NDP has given, as I highlighted in another thread.

People are stupid. And the NDP wont be better for them when we are so far in debt services actually do have to be cut and they lose their jobs or don't get raises anymore.

The union did. Which is a major distinction.

Haha, so your "buddy's" anecdotal evidence to support his choice somehow trumps what actually happened to teachers, nurses, and all other general services gov employees? Cool story indeed bro.

I think if we really wanted to take the gloves off and bring BC to heel we could just park that convoy of oil field trucks that went to Ottawa on the highways and railroads at the Bc, Alberta border. Some buddy might actually stop and hear what they have to say when the port of Vancouver backs up and the RoC is blocked from their cheap Chinese goods. Sure Alberta would suffer some trade during the blockade too but no pain no gain.

People seem to forget that when the goverment is spending money they are spending it within the province and the money is going to the people who live here...

I mean. You realize they took all that money from people who live in the province in the first place?

Government money doesn’t come out of thin air.

What is stopping us now from doing that? Al la Keystone Part Deux out of Washington or Oregon?

Unless we could wrangle a pipeline north, into NWT and over to Yukon/Alaska.

A lot of former PCs endorising Notely as a leader. Some even compared her to Peter Lougheed. UCP supporters seem like ideologues who just are conservative for being conservative. I was always PC but decided to vote NDP last election cuz I was tired of their BS. In the 4 years she's been in office and under the circumstances she was in, Rachel Notely has been doing a great job. She's pro-pipeline, pro-oil and energy sector. She even went against her federal NDP leader and her fellow BC NDP colleague! That shows great leadership skills!

PS. When oil dropped in price PCs did shit. That cost a lot of jobs. She's trying to find solutions to ensure oil industry is running. We need this! Not someone who just sits there.

Surprised no one has brought up that Lougheed voted against gay rights.

Honestly surprised that there are even a few beyonders that support the ndp
