It's as close as it gets, but still no.
Swann held it for last 15 years. PC held that during Klein years. Before that NDP held it for 7. So 22 out of last 30 years it's held by the left.

Swann won with 42 to 53% of the votes all 4 elections. I doubt Kahn would have same kind of hold.

So now this has turned from an Alberta referendum to needing 7 provinces to also agree to end equalization, as well as the House?

Not sure how you think this makes it easier or better.
You can say whatever you want to believe, that is not what I said, nor implied, nor what the article said, or the supreme court said.

Then UCP supporters might learn how it actually works versus how they think it works.
    .
What would be a real trick is if liberals could be taught that nobody is fooled when taxes are taken from one province and given to another, that somehow that money wasn't actually their tax money to begin with.

One can dream. I think they'll get a lesson soon.

The only way what you posted is relevant is for a constitutional amendment. The Constitution is what gives the federal government the power for equalization, so in order to trigger an obligation that would force them to the table would require amending that power (taking it away). So to force the federal government to the table that's what you would need to vote on, and the key factor being they would have to approve the question. A constitutional amendment requires the 7/50 formula, so you'd need six other provinces to sign onto the idea if you got that far.

So what did you say/imply: 'that they could be forced to the table and negotiate in good faith.' They can only be forced is there's a referendum with a clear question and a clear majority.

What did the article say: "proposed amendment to the Constitution, if the voting results in “a clear majority … on a clear question,” the federal government has “a constitutional duty to negotiate” the issue." So they have to vote on a Constitutional amendment, with a clear question.

What did the Supreme Court of Canada say: https://www.canlii.org/en/ca/scc/doc...canlii793.html 'Quebec could not, despite a clear referendum result, purport to invoke a right of self-determination to dictate the terms of a proposed secession to the other parties to the federation.' (just to give some rough detail on what their ruling was about, because it's about a secession vote)

So otherwise that is what you said, implied, etc. Or what you posted is completely irrelevant (and given you posted a Ted Morton column, that's more likely the case than anything).

So I guess we're back to square one. The feds aren't going to be forced to the table.

Taxes aren't transfered among provinces. See the misconception, alive and well.

News flash UCP dumb ass, every developed nation in the world has federal taxes.

The Muslim tweet says Feb 5 with no year. So either it's from last month or someone was sitting on the screen shots for a while.

Wow what won't the NDP say about someone running against them. Terrible strategy if they're trying to win calagry

"Stop bullying me, by showing people my beliefs!"

You would think the amount of vetting the NDP did for the UCP nominees last year would have made the UCP pay a little more attention.

We all expected UCP to behave like a well oiled machine, but. In reality, they are brand new, and we are seeing that inexperience now. This should have been discovered internally ages ago and either scrubbed or disqualified her.

So are you saying that the federal government does not collect taxes from individuals in each province, and then proceed to hand out those said taxes to people in other provinces?

Yes, you poor unfortunate simplistic minded liberal voter, there is not a pile of "berta bucks" that gets deposited into the "quebec bank account", but if give more federal funds then we receive, that is a transfer.

Call it whatever you want, you probably think carbon taxes are revenue neutral eh? Or that citizens will get MORE money back then is collected in carbon tax because money is magic How do some of you people get dressed in the morning.

Which they can be. Just because you have an opinion it would be hard or difficult doesn't make it any less valid. In fact, it probably further bolsters the argument we should do it because you of all people disagree

Noticed over the last few days that there's a few NDP signs popping up on peoples lawns in my community (I live in Calgary-Bow). Drives me even more crazy because the NDP MLA that my idiot neighbours are campaigning for is Deborah Drever
Im in the same riding, in cougar ridge. On my street there are ~20 blue UCP and only 1 ndp sign. Actually in the entire community I have only seen 1 lawn sign in orange

UCP has been pretty bush league with the signs in my riding. Requested one twice and still nothing.

Far more NDP than UCP signs in my riding so far (Calgary-West). Wonder if that will change.

If the interpretation of the government's obligation for a secession referendum is also applied to an equalization one, apparently. But following the necessary steps for that path is not what you said or implied (you were very adamant about that), so how can they be forced then?

This honestly seems pretty tame as far as social media faux-pas go. Meanwhile, every other UCP candidate seems to have a long verifiable history of espousing hate, xenophobia, white supremacy, homophobia, yet people seem to just brush it off because it's "their team." But personally, those things bother me a lot more than a silly picture like this, posted by a 20-year-old.
Thats why social media is so entertaining. Even on Beyond, the far right guys were damn near frothing at the mouth when Drevors pics came to light. Meanwhile Kenney buys his way into leadership over quite a few racists pricks, and it's "meh, just the cost of business".

    This.

I mean the UCP just had to find people who were not dirtbags and cruise to victory, and yet here we are.
