Default RV driving camera system recommendations?

anybody have experience with an "inexpensive" RV camera system for a travel trailer? buying a new trailer which i expect to be very long term so i wan't to outfit it with at least 3 cameras, rear and one on each side. (maybe 2 rear, one pointed down for backing distance and one pointed back for a rear view mirror style.)

Just wondering if anybody has any experience? i'd probably go wired because wireless seems to always be questionable video quality due to the overall distance, interference, etc...

Go wired for sure. I think furion is the brand that usually comes pre-wired on many units. Not sure if they are good or just cheap for the manufacturers.

May need to make a DIY solution, not sure one exists with three cameras.

yeah i was looking at something like this, seems like the reviews are decent
    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01J0RS8UM/...v_ov_lig_dp_it

$335 CAD but only $200USD if i make a trip to the border

I'd probably combine it all on the roof or something and run a single 6-7 pin to the tow vehicle.

What tow vehicle? I know GM has a system in place and an aftermarket equivalent that works quite well.

We shall give you trailer backing lessons. Cameras are for sissies, real men can blindsided a trailer into a hole 3' wider than their towed.

And just for shit and giggles I'll yell at you the whole time and honk horn like douchebags at the campsites to ensure you have proper pressure applied.

If you intend to keep it long term - learn to park it right. Technology is no replacement for understanding how your combo rolls and backs up. If a new Canadian class 1 driver can blindsided into a dock we can teach you to make it into a campsite...

learning doesnt fix blind slides and not knowing your surroundings due to new areas you're unfamiliar with, sorry i am not a pro trucker, and sorry i dont want to put a hole in the side of my brand new $30k rig.... i do ti maybe 10 times a year, even a "new canadian" does it a hell of a lot more than that before he is pro.... pretty sure canadian backing up is the same as all them "immigrant" countries backing up.

I have a wireless system on the back on my trailer but don’t use it for backing up instead if doubles as a rear view mirro when driving. I have not had an issue with video transmission but I know some cheaper ones are pretty shit when you get over 70km/hr

It does, trust me, once you've gotten enough practice you can back in anything anywhere, without spotters.

I can jump between a lwb medium duty wrecker hauling a smart cart next to a light wrecker hauling 52' of rv - it's the same to me, only pivot and wb changes. Once you've been taught to do it right the rest is easy.

A guy driving for a living and a guy pulling his family around in an RV in the summer isn't the same. Wanting some cameras to remove a little stress from his vacation is a very reasonable and responsible idea. Let's not turn this into a dick-measuring contest.

I somewhat disagree. I don't drive for a living yet I dont rely on 50 different cameras (i have none). There are far too many RV goers driving around with improperly set up trailers, inadequacy driving skills, and a complete misunderstanding on how a tow vehicle reacts. The bandaid is to splash cameras all over the thing but they dont replace the basics.

To fix OP's problem, a walkaround the site and a $10 set of walkies/spotter fixes everything. Its also much more universal as well.

OP isn't new to pulling trailers, he's got the basics covered.

Camera's are handy when you don't have a spotter. I've gone out ahead of my family a few times, and needed to park solo.

Also Camera's are handy while you're on the road for checking for motorcycles in blind-spots.

and if you dont have a spotter? (or even worse a spotter that doesn't know what they're doing... i have seen many domestic situations involving backing an RV in to a camp site.)

we get it you're pro, i am a noob, i dont give a fuck what you think, i am gonna do it my way.. you bitching and flooding my thread with your e-peen measuing bullshit isnt gonna change my mind.

Im not trying to change your mind nor am i trying to compare myself to you. Im saying, get some skills and your life will be happier when you are parking your RV.

Also, please dont misconstrue my comments as bitching. Consider my comments as a reflection of your pissy attitude. At first i was trying to offer some help and your "LOL" condescending comment made you come off like the bitch.

the subject of my thread was not "please recommend alternatives to driving cameras"...

I am not the only one here that called you out so maybe its your attitude that needs to be checked...

I think being the asshole who derailed it - the major takeaway should have been why don't we spend an afternoon teaching you trailer Dynamics so it's not required. Trailers are super predictable to back up, even the super short wheelbase ones like a smart car in tow. If you know how to use your mirrors and situational awareness correctly you can do it reliably without the camera.

My tow trucks had a camera, but it was so I could use the cab mount controls and get the stinger almost set before exiting the vehicle.
