Default Is Maaco my best option?

So I posted about removing plasti dip on a gti I bought that had key marks all over. So I finally got all the dip off. The paint is pretty bad, lots of clear coat issues, scratches, key marks and more. I dont want it to be perfect but a 5' job would work.

Anyone recently had maaco or similar work? Car was all of 2k and is in great shape all around with very low miles. I dont want to get fancy, and I wouldn't be doing any major prep. Can you get a maaco job done for say 1k? I looked into getting a proper dip or wrap but its 2k to 4k. Will be using the car on the track, and auto x mostly.

without prep, won't it look like garbage? If you are happy with garbage, why not spray it yourself? If you car is going to be tracked anyway, this might be a handy skill to have, since you'll be able to fix any track damage.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

If it’s a track car just save your dabloons and live with it. You’ll never get your money back even if you have it repainted well.

They actually look really decent if you spend the time on it.

I've had a few Maaco paint jobs from several years ago. At the end of the day, they spray paint on a car and that's it with their El Cheapo package. I think it used to be called Ambassador. I always upgraded a couple levels up from that and of course there's always bodywork.
Overall, their quality of paint and workmanship was quite good on paint and horrible on bodywork. Like, about as bad as me trying it myself.

That's my thing. I would butcher it. I got all the mechanical issues sorted out myself, but bodywork is not my thing.
