We are getting a gas line installed so we can finally use NG vs LP.

Any disadvantage to just getting a conversion kit off amazon from LP to NG vs just getting a new NG BBQ?

    Currently using a 6yo Baron 590
Weber stopped selling conversion kits a long time ago. Something to do with safety.

Weber stocks parts for all their old style BBQ's so that would be my vote.

The Genesis 3 burner is $900 regular price but if you can wait it out (and constantly check out Home Depot) they go on sale quite often in the $750 range. And floor models get blown out later in the summer.
I hate how Weber charges so much more to add an enclosure.

So what’s the advantage of these $2k+ bbq’s vs this at $300:

    https://www.homedepot.ca/product/bro...ner/1001034735

I don’t think I’ve spent more than $500 on a bbq, especially now I only use it for a final sear out of the sous vide.

In the past, the cheaper BBQs had noticeable differences in heat retention and distribution. Durability was also an issue on the high use parts like hinges and knobs.

I haven't used one in so many years that it's completely possible they're better these days.
I can eat more hot wings than you.

I noticed on my PC grill the back side gets up to temperature, and the front barely gets any heat so I end up using only the top 2/3rd's of the grill.

Please remind me of the brand Superstore carries as I used to have one forever ago and I want to buy one for cabin life. It was just like you said - cheap, reasonable and lasted great.

Double Diamond in Edmonton sells certain brands (used to be including Weber) for suspiciously cheap.
That place is fucking awesome for consumer electronics and a few other items if you already know what you want.

from what I've read elsewhere canadian appliance source seems to drop their pants for people in ontario. Some people claim to get a few hundred off a napoleon which makes that an easy decision to buy.

Checking their website theres local options. They even have a bio on all their sales people. I'd hit up the single mom of 3 and start the negotiation with her.

Anyone know if you can negotiate on grills at HD, Lowes, Rina etc? Be nice to get $100 off two grills.
Sent a note to. Double diamond, but they'd have to be pretty incredible to make the trip worth it. I'd spend $80 in fuel on the trip, let alone the day wasted.

You can negotiate on open box/display models but they probably won't want to let them go until later in the season. Slim chances but you might be able to see if any ave last year's models kicking around.

Which charcoal grill do you all recommend? The easier to use the better.
I have a weber kettle. Seems to be an inexpensive entry into charcoal grills and works well. I only use it for grilling. I'm not sure how they work for longer cooks and smoking as the insulation wouldn't be great.

The inefficiency makes them great, you want that. Blue smoke is the best smoke, smothering the fire creates bitter, stagnant white smoke

I want to be like a pit master like Errchy. I think an Everdure 4K will get me a little bit closer ("your camera takes great photos", amirite). They come in a cutesy red to match the rims and toaster that I am going to be ordering next year after I pay off the smoker/grill.

Got my Napoleon Prestige at Trail appliances a few years back and they moved on pricing for me.

I went with a Napoleon 425SE, Natural Gas after being convinced to go w/Napoleon after reading the Beyond BBQ thread.

Very happy with it. Would recommend. I paid $799ish end of season.

With Fathers Day coming up, any idea what the sales historically have been?

For others looking, if you are willing to drive:
There is a place in Cardston (Cheif Mountain Gas) offering 20% off Broil King.. Baron 440 black Ng in box-674.00 plus gst. 420 is $50 less. (Their prices must be higher to start off with, but finall price seems decent)

+1 for Napoleon. I've used the crap out of mine for the last 10 years (smoker/charcoal tray before I got a smoker, grilling, indirect, everything) and it's still works like new. I use my grill 3+ times per week summer or winter. Cast iron grates. My parents and grandparents got Napoleon's as well and only good things to say

You'd think a little sale for fathers day would make sense, right?

Are you approximately 40, approximately white and have approximately some cash?
Then, likely no sale. You need to embrace your struggle.
    It real.
