Default Cheap but decent Mattresses for VRBO property

Lots of discussions here about high end and custom mattresses, as we're all ballers (I do sleep on a hybrid coil/latex/cooling/memoryfoam King Kingsdown lol)

but I'm looking for two queen sized half decent mattresses for the VRBO property and would like some recommendations...

was thinking of spending max $800 per... and well, there is lots of options

My kid has an Endy... it feels nice when I'm awake with him, but because of the nature of all memory foams, I feel that outside of the top end manufacturers, i.e. isleep from Serta or Tempurpedic, they aren't great.

I feel that memory foam mattresses are all typically just a sandwich of closed cell high density, then low density foam, with about 3-5 inches of memory foam with some sort of gel infusion.

If you have had back and joint problems like me... you learn that sleeping like you're in a recliner (i.e. head and feet above the ass) isn't comfortable for an entire evening.

So... I'm thinking not a "bed in a box"... but rather a pillow top spring mattress and well you have options but basically for this price point: Simmons (who owns Serta), Serta and sealy

I actually loved Simmons mattresses and had them for years, and may still prefer them to the Sterns and Foster and Kingsdown I have now...

but Serta seems to have some good value for dollar at that 700-800 price point that is comparable.

Problem is... between the Bay, Brick, Sleep Country etc... everything is SMU, so you can't do direct apples to apples comparison.

All in all, I think something with good pocket coil springs, and a pillow top that has a medium firm is what I'm looking for.

any recommendations from the Beyond fruglers?

Don't get memory foam for a rental /VRBO/Airbnb. Too polarizing.

I suggest ikea. This one in fact although they have other options.

I stayed at an AirBnB once where the spring mattress was so worn I was pretty much sleeping on the slats, which is why I would personally be wary of springs. Specifically it was the one spot where it's typical to sit up on the side of the bed.

Isn't there a place that sells liquidated mattresses used from hotels?
    +1 for Ikea.

    Costco ones are pretty garbage...

there are so many levels from simmons, sealy and serta, but I think best value for dollar is serta and have to look for >1000 springs and a pillow top as I do think you guys are right... memory foam is polarizing

will go have a look at ikea

If you don't want a foam mattress (You can get ones comparable to all the online direct companies for under $200), buy a cheap normal mattress and a 2" quality memory foam topper. The people who like memory foam will love it and the people who don't can easily just take it off. It also still maintains most of the qualities of a regular mattress with just the foam topper, so it's not nearly as polarizing as a foam mattress.

I bought this and it turned our concrete slab of a bed into the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in - I don't wake up at night anymore at all and it doesn't trap any noticeable amount of heat:

As for a regular mattress it's easy to find a queen size for $500-600 that isn't too bad.

I rent a condo out to a guy that uses it for Airbnb and he's been happy with the memory foam mattress I have in there
    Have this one
    https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/50272164/
I've had spring before and they've never lasted very long

    Edit:
    just found this on RFDs

I have this one personally. It's a VERY firm mattress, just the way I like it. I've had it for about 10 months, I still like it.

We've got Ikea beds in our house and trailer. 1 year later, and zero complaints. I can replace it 5 times for the price of a "good" mattress from a mattress store.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

So, after all this you ordered the foam you didn't want? Haha. You an find them cheaper than that if you were OK with foam.

This. A lot easier to get them home too if you don't have a truck or SUV.

Almost bought a Casper (middle grade 4 layers of foam) until I laid down on one. I don't think foam mattresses click with me. Perhaps I'm just simple cuz those $100 pillows don't do anything for me either when 9.97 Walmart ones work just as well in my case.

I ended up moving my old King serta bed from the parents back to the condo. Saves money I suppose.

reviews of the Zinus 12 is positive, and one of my co-workers has one also for the guest bedroom and he says its as good as his Douglas, but he did pay about full price before. Its going to the basement guest room

Also learned as Kingsdown is made here, most liquidators get their 2nds for really cheap... with warranty and sealed for really really cheap (relative)

It looks like everyone is moving to Foam

If I got rid of my kingsdown and HAD to buy foam, I'd by the Sealy iComfort, tempurpedic or Dormeo... that said, maybe even try a Purple

ALSO one other I'd try is the only pure latex foam one at Ikea... it felt nice too and is like 1/3rd the price

I’ve got a hardly used Queen mattress / box spring that I’m not using. Might be exactly what you’re looking for. Will let it go for cheap. PM me.
