Search remembers things?

So, when I click advanced search, it always brings me to "multiple content types" and has prefilled in a user name. Since I no longer want to search for posts only by that user, it's an extra step to get where I want. It's been this was for a year or more.

I don't think this is a cookie problem, because it happens on at least three devices for me.

Ideally I'd start on a "single content type" page that was blank.
Any ideas?

Why does the thread from Ask Leo not show up in my what's NEW area when that gifted gentleman updates his travel plans to Columbia?
Are all Ask Leo threads programmed to not advise users when there are new posts?

Yeah, ask Leo is kind of "hidden". That's on purpose from back when it had things that were not in keeping with the squeaky clean image that the site owners want to portray. Or something.
