Hey beyonders, anyone here have experience with producing videos?

Looking to help a friend out with recording video client testimonials. I did a search on what kind of microphone and cameras Youtubers typically use but there's alot of choices out there. He's a dunce with technology so I am determined to give him a hand.

I'm meeting with him next week to get more information but based on what I know, it sounds like it's a simple recording with minimal video editing. Just need a good camera and crisp sound.

Any suggestions on equipment would be awesome as well.

Without knowing his business and how he intends to use these videos:

If it's something simple and he's only doing 4-5 videos one time for a website then you can get away with video from new smartphones (with a tripod) and a cheap microphone (I think they make lav microphones for iPhone/smartphones). Don't forget to have good lighting, just pick a spot indoors with lots of natural soft light.
