Default Shop for super early signs of rust?

My gf’s car has a minor area on the hatch that is just starting to bubble, and I was hoping to find a shop that could take care of it before it gets any worse. I know a lot of shops in town won’t touch rust, but can anyone recommend a shop who has done similar work?

Most shops won't touch it because you're pretty much guaranteed that it will return without full panel replacement. With that said, I can send you contact for a guy who will fix it relatively cheap, but if it was my car, I'd then sell it.

what kind of car? chances are the minor rust has already spread far beyond what you can see.

It’s a power rear hatch which would be a pain in the ass to swap. Shoot me the contact and I’ll see if there is any point in trying a repair rather than replace.

Along the same sort of lines is this, ive noticed my winter rims have started rusting after 6 years. Does this matter or should I consider replacing them next winter?

TL;DR - Go to Screamin Paintworks. (talking about OP, not the wheels. who cares about rust on winter wheels)

I had rust on my old G37, took it to Maranellos and they said they wouldn't touch it because it'll probably just come back. Took it to Screamin paintworks and they did a fantastic job (was on the roof and trunk lid) fixing it. Also said if it came back I could come see them again and they'd warranty it. They took the panels all the way down to bare metal, repainted and looked better than factory. Very reasonable price.

I've used Screamin Paintworks in the past as well and they do awesome work. I'd recommend them when you want high quality results.

Keep in mind this was a few years back, I think to do my entire hood and trunk it was ~1500-1800 IIRC. I would expect it to be <$1k for a door (doesn't matter how big the spot is, they should be stripping most of the door and painting the whole thing if the job is done right).

I asked Screamin' about some rust a decade ago, and they said they didn't do rust repair.

    Bump!

I’m looking to get some rust repair done, I contacted Screamin and I was told to stop by the shop so they can look at it, so I came by then I was told by Dave it is going to need a panel replacement yadadada but they might be able to clean it up, however it will be up to Dan and they will contact me. I waited for a few days and I finally got an email but no quote, just to call them again. I get that they may be busy but I also felt like they didn’t want the job. What a waste of time. So if anyone know of an auto body guy that know their shit and would like some work please send them my way.
