Seems kinda weird. As far as I know telus doesn't wholesale fibre so I'm not sure how you'd get their service in the city.
TELUS is not reselling their residential FTTH service at the moment but it is a very real possibility that this company has leased dark fiber into some of the large condo/apartment buildings in the city.
    Will fuck off, again.

I was with Vmedia for a year until Telus came sniveling back and offered me a better deal

FYI Mar, there are only 2 options in Calgary. FTTH/DSL from Telus or Cable from Shaw.

Everyone else are just resellers of these 2 companies' infrastructure.

I don't know when the lawsuit and dust settles on the ongoing wholesale rate lawsuit (https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tel...rnet-1.5302941). But I was able lowball Shaw retention for 300Mbps service for $60/mth for 2 years before the court stopped CRTC in Sep and price sprung back. This service usually goes for around $75/mth from resellers and before the court order, they were charging only $4x.00/month.

So you can try Shaw retention to see if they give you a sweet deal or just jump to a reseller if you hate them. But I don't think the lower reseller rate will be back unless the big telco loses in court.
    $75 for 300 down? That doesn't sound right, they're charging me $90 a month for 25 down.

I don't do contracts for anything.
@Mar , There's a cost to having no contract, and you are paying it. You could have much lower monthly bills with a 2 year term from Telus or shaw. Or not, the choice is yours. You should be able to negotiate below the published rates pretty easily, but even if not (knowing you), here's the current Telus rates.

On their site Shaw has 45/month for 300 for the first 12 months then 75/month after that right now as their base rates. So your definitely getting screwed.

It's only $75 for the second year, it's $105 regular.

Been with Lightspeed since June 2020. No complaints at all. Downtime was once for an hour.
Crushing some great savings. Payout calc was 5 months due to having to buy the modem.
Speed is there for 2 people WFH.
I wouldn't hesitate to switch. The switch did take time so don't cancel current internet until you're swapped over.

Been using Teksavvy for five years now in Calgary. Their basement tier price used to be superaffordable, but in the last year prices have substantially increased.

Does require purchase of modem, but I covered it in six months compared to Shaw. It will take much longer to cover the difference now.
    Cocoa $11,000 per ton.

Been using Shaw for almost 2 years on their $45 for 300 plan - now only shaw options are Fiber+ which I know is still coax to my house (unsure if its also coax out of the community) anyway thats 300 for $100 a month, pretty steep jump from $45 - does anyone know any latest plans for Telus that arent on their website?

Paying $55 for their 150/30 plan. FTTH should be available sometime this month in our hood and was told when I re-signed a few weeks ago, that I should be able to stay around the same price.....we shall see.

With Telus, pricing really seems to come down to the loyalty rep you speak with (the regular CSR can't do anything for you).

The difference between shaw's "Fibre-to-the-block" and telus' "Fibre-to-the-home" is pretty small in technical terms now. For normal users it comes down to price.

You ***should*** be able to get all your TV and internet needs taken care of for less than $120/mo with either. I have 4 TV theme packs from telus, and 150/150 internet, for $105. Call the one you don't currently have and ask about promotions for new customers, then take that info back to your current provider and get them to beat it. It's a pain.

Back in Dec. that had a promo for $53/month for 300 for 24 months. For existing customer with contract ending in the next 6 months or new customers.

A modem list is available on their website. I just phoned them and they told me it's $3 per month to rent one.

Finally had to ditch Telus. Got Shaw Fibre 500 for $79 with $50 bill credit. So far so good. Had to have a tech come over as it was so long since I last had Shaw that my line wasn’t connected properly to the block.

Except for ShawÂ’s 100mbps Upload ceiling, while Telus has full symmetrical speeds.
