Default Baby T-Rex Skeleton for sale on Ebay

    https://www.ebay.ca/itm/YOUNG-BABY-T...gAAOSwdX5cdXgI

scientists are pissed that he's trying to sell it on ebay, he figures this way it will get more exposure. with the exchange rate only $3,941,199.97.

is this guy an asshole for trying to sell it? personally I don't think so but I understand why the scientists are pissed. don't want this to become a normal thing selling dinosaur bones on ebay. lol.

All the power to you but I really have to wonder if it'll be bought by scientists - the validity is certainly questionable and at this price...

Some rich person needs to spend their money on something.... I'd buy it lol

Nothing wrong with selling the T-Rex IMO. I'd for sure buy something like this if I had more money than I knew what to do with.

As long as the fossils were acquired legally, I have no issue with it being auctioned.

If anyone has any interest in the commercial vs. science debate on fossils, check out the book 'The Dinosaur Arist'. Super interesting and informative read.

It's a problem of legislation more than anything else. In Montana you own whatever you find in the ground hence why this thing is being auctioned off. In Alberta this is not the case even if you "own" the land...

    Keeping

If you live in Alberta and legally surface collect a fossil, you may keep it. However, you may not sell, alter, or remove the specimen from the province without permission from the Government of Alberta.

To gain ownership of a fossil, you must be issued a Disposition Certificate for that specimen by the Government of Alberta. Applications for disposition can be obtained from the Resource Management Program at the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

Please note that only four types of fossils are eligible for disposition: ammonites, petrified wood, leaf impressions, and oysters.

    Selling

Fossils collected in Alberta cannot be sold without obtaining a Disposition Certificate from the Government of Alberta through the Royal Tyrrell Museum. Fossils sold in Alberta shops are often collected in the United States, Europe, and Africa where laws regarding the collection and ownership of fossils are different.

In the case of Korite Ammolite mined in Alberta, the government gets first dibs and if they decline, Korite is allowed to sell it.
