I think so. Sheer has been pandering to the west a lot, and less so to the east.
Words are cheap. You need leverage to get action. Leverage the West does not have, and probably never will. Very unlikely Scheer will risk any support from other parts of the country to appease a voter base that is voting for them anyway.

Albertan's naive lack of cynicism is depressing.

Based on population growth over the last 30 years alberta should have more people than BC in 15 years and quebec in 115 years. So our great grandkids should have more say. Unless we're all too woke to have kids.

Genuinely curious: do people here actually think that if the Tories get either a majority or a minority, they are going to implement policies that will help Alberta? Do people think they will trade political capital to punch a bunch of pipelines through BC and Quebec? That Scheer will be willing to take the political hit of indigenous groups whining to every corner of the globe?
Not for a second. We need a federal AB party (like the Bloc) to make any kind of noise.

Enough of the pandering to the East.

It was probably 20 deep when i voted this morning. Looked like the old folks home tour bus supported by trudope had just arrived. Course theres no liberal candidate here? I dont expect wayne anderson has much to worry about lol
Wayne Anderson? You must have been 20 deep because he was never an MP, he was an MLA and he's no longer that either!
You in Barlow's riding? A Liberal candidate finally joined shortly before the election there.

Was maybe 2 people in line. Took a long time due to incompetence not busyness. Must have been Liberals voting in front of me.
you mean it must have been PPC supporters voting in front of you.

I know precisely what you're saying and while I'm not exactly arguing with you, I'll still say that:
a.) We wouldn't have a federal leader that is essentially at war with our province, so yes, more benefits would come our way. Not a gravy train so as to alienate his Eastern brethren, but more than having a guy who's trying to secretly wipe us off the earth.
b.) He would implement policies that benefit Canada and responsible energy development benefits Canada and he'd work to sell that concept instead of taking selfies with Greta VonBoatFace.

So, you're right... But not if you're suggesting he's literally going to do nothing for us. It wouldn't be like electing an oil baron, but it sure as Hell wouldn't be no change from Capt Selfie.

It would be policies which leave us more or less with the status quo.

There are worse options than sheer, of course. But that just makes him merely "bad".

Looks like the Libs are far ahead... IMO Scheer is a weak candidate, I'd prefer a Lib majority over a Lib/NDP coalition...overall not looking good though

Well, it was widely expected for Liberals to win the east, and if polling is anything close to accurate, PC's have a 45-ish seat edge for Manitoba-west, so being behind by less than that, is actually a slightly encouraging sign. Now polls don't report in pure east-to-west order, so you can't read too deeply into that.
10:04 EDT partial results: Liberals ahead by 32 seats.

Interesting riding to watch is Milton. Only 30/196 polls reporting, but Adam Van Koeverden (former Olympian if the name sounds familiar) is leading Lisa Raitt and the margin jumped to 400 votes. Would really cap off a terrible election for the CPC if they lost Raitt considering people were talking about her as Scheer's replacement.

If it turns out that the Liberals get enough seats to form a minority gov propped up by teaming up with the NDP - Alberta and the West are truly fucked. Considering how many seats the Bloc picked up in Quebec, keeping Canada from flying apart will be a full time job for Trudeau et al. A returning separatist party in Quebec and a growing separatist movement (really growing with this above minority nightmare result) in the West....
