This is the agreement. Snc made the following statement

Between March 9, 2004, and May 1, 2011 (the relevant period), certain former senior executives of the Contracting Party, who are no longer employees, solicited some of the employees of the Contracting Party, including certain members of the Office of the President, to make political contributions at the federal level. In some cases, these contributions were reimbursed by the Contracting Party in the form of false refunds for personal expenses or payment of fictitious bonuses or other benefits which, according to information obtained in the context of the Commissioner's investigation, were for a total value of $117, 803.49.
During the relevant period, and as they had previously offered to do, the Contracting Party reimbursed federal political contributions made by its employees and, in some cases, by the spouses of its employees.

I just don't like seeing companies dragged through the mud for no reason because anti-capitalism is the current political tool of choice to create an issue out of thin air these days

The Liberals can go fuck themselves for all I care, it isn't like I have a political agenda here
Companies like SNC are the least capitalist of companies.

Interesting question for Beyond - what would your reaction be if your boss came to you and suggested you donate money to a given political party and you'd get reimbursed?

I'd write a fake donation receipt.

This reads like somebody trying to save face after realizing there was nothing tangible beyond solicitation in the office to go after

While it is possible people were making claims for reimbursements that were not valid (just the nature of people), I don't believe for a second that they were actively reimbursing employees in connection to donations made.

Like I said before, if that was true to any degree, you'd have articles exposing it in black and white... instead they are all stand-off-ish speculation trying to infer something malicious occurred.
SNC literally made that statement. you can believe whatever you want. But they admitted to reimbursing the donations.

...then somebody tried to connect personal donations to bonuses, even though they weren't.
Yes, they were. They admitted to doing so.

    Another portion of the agreement:
It (SNC) acknowledges that, in offering to reimburse its employees for federal political contributions, and in reimbursing such contributions, it was in fact making those contributions itself.
    ...
The Contracting Party acknowledges and accepts responsibility for these acts.

NDP continues to struggle dealing with divisive federal policy and the desires of the provinces they’re trying to pander to:

Thank the gods that the federal NDP are such a mess. At least any anti-conservative sentiment will end up with Liberals instead of something further down the spectrum,

A strong NDP is better for the conservatives. This will drive more votes to the liberals which isn’t good.

It's minority gov anyway, so basically re-election or nothing gets done for 4 years.

Trudeau's answer to the Vancouverites, who will be paying 2$/L this year for gas is - 'exactly what we want'.

I hear thats a great way to attract voters.

At least that's philosophically honest. If you want lower consumption, you also want higher prices. It's a clear straight line.

Yea but it's easier to make a short clip that cuts out the rest of the conversation so you can get the sound bite.

This is why I've stopped paying attention. Left. Right. We're all idiots.

I thought that too - not that the Cons are excused from similar behavior - but the liberals NEVER give a straight answer to anything. So the motives are usually inferred - however in this case, JT is correct in their philosophy - raise fuel prices high enough and people will adjust.
