Is there a process to get accredited? It seems like he previously attended government events, maybe they went full retard like the rebel.
Yes, and it was followed to how the Liberals laid it out, by RSVPing before hand.

    Basically.

I have a few mortgage broker/realtor friends who genuinely believe that we need to make it easier to buy homes.

I mean, sure- I benefit since I've got a couple of properties, and increased access to financing should increase asset prices.

On the other hand, how long do we want to keep this bubble going? How long are we going to not only ALLOW but ENCOURAGE poor financial management?
I lost 2 sales on the same property earlier last spring because the prospective buyers couldn't pass the test even though they currently paid higher rent than their mtg and taxes would be. I know this because they were known to me. It bothered them more than me because now I'm just renting it out for a tidy return each month. Tighter rules benefit people like us and create hurdles for others but I don't disagree with it, it can't go on unfettered.

That being said, hopefully the bubble grows incrementally or remains stable, along with int rates, for another 5 years so my plans work out to get this new build paid off. Then at least I'll remain insulated from the fallout.

The government we know (all 3 main parties) is not fit to manipulate the economy, our system is broken.

One data point, but the new Ipsos poll seems to indicate that at least some people care about Justin-Blackface

Don't worry. I'm not sure there's an ethnicity he hasn't dabbled in "identifying" with.

The hypocrisy and hyperbole levels from some of these parties will be what the silent majority will essentially vote against, not because Scheer is any kind of saviour.

I have heard that there are a few more smear items coming for Trudeau in the next few weeks, one big one involving the 'Me Too' movement, but from a male! Should be interesting to see how it all rolls out.

It's the same reason Kenney has been so quiet lately. They don't want to rock the boat and do something that would sway votes to the left.

The fate of the country lies on the shoulders of Toronto. Fuck my life.

As usual, I'm more interested in what happens South of the border. They might actually go full socialist over there.

The election is always over before Alberta's polls even close.

That would be even worse if we had a proportional representation system.

That's what irks me about the rabid "if you don't vote you can't complain" crowd. Now I'm not going to bother trying to crunch the numbers, but I'm sure somebody can answer the question. If every single person from Manitoba to BC voted for the same party, would it even be enough to swing the federal election? I mean obviously that'll never happen until the only party to vote for is "Dear Leader" but the question on the actual worth of our vote is an interesting one to me.

It's not far from that already. Sask, AB, BC vote >90% of seats blue, don't they? I think it may have been even higher when the Reform Party was around?. (Not certain).

How do you know this? I thought that generally speaking, most federal ridings were SUPPOSED to have similar populations. I've already pointed out one radical exception with PEI having way the fuck more seats than they should.
But you're saying if every (pick a number - say) 30,000 people had one MP, we'd be even more fucked than now?

@ PenIs - but did that swing anything? That's the real question to me.

And regarding your comment to Extraslow, yes I think it would as the population of Quebec alone is greater than the combined population of Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta. But I could be incorrect in my understanding.

It's something super fucked like all of the maritimes + nfld have as many Mp's as Alberta but with half the population.

I checked, the east coast has 75,000 people per riding. The average in AB is 126,000, meaning that they have 1.7x the representation that we do. (1.4x over Ontario, to be fair, the same applies to all of the big 4 provinces.)

There are almost two million more people in the GTA alone than Alberta or BC. Combine that with Sask and Manitoba, as well as the territories and maybe even the maritimes and it’s a comparable population number. That’s not counting the rest of Ontario.

If you add Hamilton and Niagara Falls to that, it’s something like 25% of the population of Canada that lives here. Of course there’s a shitload of votes here. There’s a shitload of people!
