Ok, now technically its not faking it because they are simply using the best images databased in the world as collected from the internet, real photos - superimposed to digitally enhance your jittery ass out of focus photo. Its easily done because of course, the moon always has the same features.

I say fair game, because technically everyone adjusts brightness and contrast and the equalizer settings on their stereo anyhow to get things that are best for them. If the AI does it automatically - that much better, just as long as people know it is happening.

This isn't anything new, most if not all of the smartphone manufacturers have been caught faking photos or using DSLRs or stock images for promo photos they later try to pass off as having been taken by their smartphones.

Huawei is a particularly bad offender though.

This is a little different. This isn't deceptive advertising, this is replacing core functionality, what you're actually shooting with stock images. Basically deepfaking the moon.

Instant deepfakes of static images are definitely doable with cellphone CPU's. Arugably, the AI could be doing all sorts of things and you would never know. Take a picture and it might erase the cactus by the side of the road and the bridge in front of you.

Would it be possible to put devils horns on every picture of every politician? Yes, actually it would be possible, as well as lizard skin.

That story was debunked by Huawei and independent tests.
