Everyone always praises the tacoma for reliability however the newer gen (2016+) has had very poor ratings for predicted reliability (CR) and JD Power for dependability. I wonder how or if this will cause buyers to buy the GM midsize twins which are rated in the top for mid size dependability, predicted reliability and overall driving performance.
So far it hasn't affected Tacoma at all.

    2018 USA numbers:

    2019 USA numbers so far:

    Tacoma: 78,558
    Colorado: 45,149
    Frontier: 24,479
    Ranger: 15,169
    Ridgeline: 9,606
    Canyon: 9,374

Haha who are the 79,000 people that bought a Frontier in 2018.. Those trucks are straight from 2004..

Amazing numbers on the tacoma sales.. I also think that it is impressive numbers on the GM twins for a truck that is relatively new.

    lol I agree...

Then again those 4runners are still flying off the shelf with the old 4.0, which honestly drives as nice as a GX460... again all on vintage platforms

Test drive an F150 supercrew first. The large interior is pretty good for storing things and people. Also, it doesn’t have ugly square wheel wells.

My $8K bike fits across the rear with the front wheel off in the F150 Crew.

Good info to know.. I thought my bike did not fit because of the frame size but I guess next time I will just buy a more expensive bike and it should fit..

I'm wondering why all the half-ton buyers here don't go F-350 diesel dually longbox crew?

Having more truck than you need/want is as annoying as having less than you want/need.

    That's a fair comparison.

I can't have mid size trucks because I'm too tall to be honest. When i bought my truck i had looked at Tacoma's and Colorado's but found it uncomfortable to get in and out and fit under the steering wheel. That was a while back though.

I think for what you want this truck is fine. I think it's just hard for guys to picture moving down from a full size to a mid size after using the truck for truck stuff, and they project their experience on your decision. hauling shit, fitting lots of people in, 4 guys and 4 hockey bags, or 4 people and all their snwoboarding gear/weekend stuff would be a tough sell to me in a Colorado, its tough in a Ram Sometimes lol. Or pulling a bobcat, which i know i shouldn't do but have done muiltiple times lol.

or because daily driving a big ass truck is a nightmare, especially with some of the parking lots out there.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

I have a full size truck and would love to downsize to a ZR-2. Sadly my trailer weighs 4000-12000lbs depending on what I’m hauling so it’s no feasible to downsize.

I think his point was exactly this. Lots of people feel this way about a half ton segment and that's why midsize sales are strong these days.

but most midsize trucks are marginally smaller than the full size. the big difference is all the companies put the development into the fullsize trucks, so you get the better fuel mileage, space, tech, and comforts.

From my perspective, having had both sizes, my midsize is ~ 1.5 feet shorter than my full size, both full doors, both short beds so it fits in the garage in winter, it is about 30% better on gas and it was about $10,000 less for same trim. The other points I agree with, space, tech, comfort. The new Ram 1500 is really, really nice, the new GM ones are only slightly worse inside (IMO) and F-150 has now fallen behind both those trucks and looks a bit outdated inside, but has the best engine lineup still. I think smaller truck segment is here to stay this time around as the big trucks have gotten bigger since last time the midsize segment died off.

What truck did you have before that you’re now 30% better in fuel?

There is like 5% difference in full size and midsize trucks now for mpg.

Did you have a tundra or something? Maybe a titan, both have decade+ old drivetrains.
