My 3.5 ecoboost does 14-15l city, like purely city, short commute never over 60.

Now commuting to a site with ~95% highway I’m regularly under 11.

It’s good, but the 2.7 is better yet.

Honestly, 12.5 for a taco in town is great. Can’t complain at all.

Iíd like the new chev 2.7L turbo in the midsize. I think thatís a 30mpg cruiser, and decent bruiser in town.

Itís not even the weight of the trucks that differ all that much, itís the frontal cross sectional area of the new Silverado that kills the mpg with the 2.7. That 4 in the ZR2 would be just perfect.

Here is a year of fill ups for my 2015 Silverado with the 5.3. averaged around 13.7 over the entire year, commuting dr, about 50km/day. summer fuel economy is regularly. under 13 in the city during summer.
My Ram was basically the same with the 8spd trans, i managed 13.5 on the regular in the summer. 14.5 in the winter.

The Ridgeline made it to Vernon from Calgary and managed 8L/100. I was super impressed because gas was 1.60 in BC when i was there. In the city it's still under 10L/100

The two main arguments from full size truck advocates are:

    - midsize aren't much smaller and therefore not much more practical
    - midsize aren't as useful because they aren't as big as full size

But how will your neighbours know how much more successful you are if you don’t have a full sized truck hooked up to a boat or giant trailer in front of your house all summer?!

I'm fortunate that I don't have any interest in boats.

Nor do I have interest in spending my weekends in trailer parks...err..."camping".

Psh, like any trailer that's small enough to be towed by a half ton is worth bragging about

I do need a boat for the driveway though. That's a different thread.

not sure if it was already mentioned but info on the new 3.0L I6 sierra 1500, basically the same fuel economy as the canyon/colorado, hauls the same as the diesel canyon/colorado too... i dont see any reason to buy the bigger truck TBH.

I was very confused by the specs. Why even bother with that 3L diesel GM?

Simply because Ford and Ram have a 6cyl 1/2 ton diesel. I see plenty of EcoDiesel Rams out there Ram giveaway pricing helps a bunch) so I think there is a strong market for light duty Diesels even though they offer zero savings for the buyers.

Not sure what to make of this. Either the Colorado has a weak ass frame, or thereís more to this story.

I didn't read all the replies, but agree with the first couple dozen. The only way a 2100lbs trailer bent that frame, is if he fucking launched his truck, and not just a little bump at low speed.

347lbs of tongue weight is quite a bit to start with (for an off-road journey). I’d assume anyone travelling off road with a trailer would be smart enough to be taking it VERY easy, but maybe not this guy. Willing to bet he hit a large dip at an unreasonable speed for the situation and all the tongue weight multiplied the forces on the frame and bent it.
