Just thought it was funny all the calculations were for dink’s. Easier to calculate I suppose.

my Wife did good of keeping me in check while we were dink’s, retirement will likely be 55-60 still though.

I have yet to own any sort of vehicle that has cost less than an average of $350/month.... new or used, there is a cost to vehicle ownership. At least with a lease you know what your monthly bills will be.

Or it probably reflect more of Beyond's demo. You tends to not have money to blow on cars or time on forums if you have kids.

My retirement goals have nothing to do with money.

All I want is to be active, fit and not bored.

There's literally nothing you can do to keep yourself from becoming bored, without money. Even walking in circles ain't free, just ask all the tri/marathon guys how much they spend on shoes.

I don't think his point is literally no money - but you don't need $100k/year to enjoy cycling or hiking or camping or fishing or any other number of outdoor activities. A full ski or golf season would even come in under $3-5k depending on how you go about it.

Fair point. I guess I have a tendency to spend more than necessary on my hobbies.

I will retire either when I am dead or I get stuck in a home drooling all over myself. Until then I could not imagine having a life with no feeling of not being somewhat under the gun to survive. I just am not cut out to be retired totally. I think it would be the death of me. Even travelling gets a bit old after a few weeks and I need to get back into the grind just to keep sane. Whether that is running my current company or side businesses in supposed retirement or whatever I will still need to keep at it. The money part IMHO is simply keeping score on how my biz is working. As long as I keep making enough to putter and keep myself busy I am happy.
