Use 303's UV protectant products on the fabric and you shouldn't have any issues. We used it on our boat covers/vinyl, lawn swing covers, patio umbrella covers, etc. and they all looked like new even after years in the sun. If you don't want to have to maintain anything, then deck box, or ideally both.

What's worse IMO is wet/dirty cushions that everything sticks to, like leaves and other backyard debris. For that reason I would use a deck box anyway and just take them out when I wanted to use it.

We got cube-shaped deck boxes that can be moved around easily and act as extra seating or table space. The cushions stay inside the box over the winter on our covered front porch. I didn't consider a cover because the main reason we store the cushions when they're not in use is to prevent them from blowing away in high winds.
